It is possible to have a communistic society though, through Christianity. Many Christians in Victorian England pushed this idea. John Ruskin, William Morris. Not all socialists and even fellow Marxists agreed with Hegel and Marx on the matter. It was a subject that was often contested even in these circles. They pointed in particular to this passage in the bible:
Acts 4:32-35, "Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common. ... 34 There was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold. 35 They laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need."
Marxist BLM tries to force innocent diners to bow to them. For Marxists, it's always about control.

Re: Marxist BLM tries to force innocent diners to bow to them. For Marxists, it's always about control.
Sorry I should probably add that whilst I know a great deal about Marxism I am doing my best to NOT get involved in the politics of the world anymore (Marxism has many good points and quite a number of negative things about it if you look at it purely from an objective perspective). I was previously a Left Communist (which is VERY different to Bolshevik Communism and they wouldn't go on a BLM march because they see it as inter classist nonsense) before I realised only God can solve the problems of our world, so consider myself a bit of an expert on this topic. I consider posts like this anti-marxist or anti-trump or anti-whatever posts, are typically written by people who have yet to actually detach themselves from worldly politics. For some reason, those on the Right of politics, seem to think it's okay for them to post anti-Leftist posts and somehow consider themselves detached from the politics of the world. They seem to think that by posting anti-Left stuff, that they're exempt from being political. When that is exactly what they're doing! Nope, your right wing republican mindset is still not a godly mindset and fails to live up to the separation from the world standard Anabaptism has set itself to. Yes, it is the same the other way around. The danger of mixing with such people, is that inevitably they draw you back into that world of politics of the world and away from the Kingdom of God. It's a very hard thing not to respond to things like this (because it takes many years of living a non-political life to shed yourself of these worldly power games) but I'm doing my best. It's not something we're very good at because we obviously care about people and the world. But Christianity is neither Left or Right, it is both and it is neither. Once again, apologies for the rant.

It's a very good rant.aussieandy wrote:For some reason, those on the Right of politics, seem to think it's okay for them to post anti-Leftist posts and somehow consider themselves detached from the politics of the world. I don't think we can just "not respond to" these things, they tend to take over if we do not respond to them.

The left, however, is explicitly anti-Christian. The right with is more willing to make some concessions (at least right now) to allow us to live in peace.

This is actually NOT true (and depends on where you are in the world). I remember living in Wales for 8 years. Nearly all the churches were involved in both social and environmental justice movements and nearly all of them were devoutly Christian. They were 'Left wing' but anti-abortion and anti-death penalty at the same time.Josh wrote:The left, however, is explicitly anti-Christian. I should clarify that I think it is down to local culture. For instance, in the USA, the Right pandered heavily to Christians and won them over. So the Left attracted atheists as a result. In Wales and Scotland, the Left pandered heavily to Christians and so as a result, most Christians are Left wing (but still pro-life and anti-gay marriage).
I was at the time, working alongside Christian Aid and Oxfam, was in Plaid Cymru (the party of Wales) and occasionally, went to church (was a something of very occasional church goer but not devout or anything) because I loved the choirs and the firey preachers in Wales (they are some of the best orators). Nearly all these folks were religious and party members and some of the party founders were pastors in fact.

When the left gains power, they do not allow Bible-following Christians to continue to exist peacefully, and will generally start their repressive efforts with trying to outlaw evangelism (right-wing movements will do this too, incidentally). Eventually they will outlaw any expressions of Christianity altogether that they cannot rigidly control. The most obvious expression of this is what happened in Ukraine in the 1910s and 1940s; once the left gained power, they slaughtered Mennonites en-masse and violently suppressed expression of their faith.aussieandy wrote:This is actually NOT true (and depends on where you are in the world). But in 2020, nobody who holds Christian values, like being against gay marriage, believing Jesus it the only way to heaven and thus those who reject him go to hell, etc. is going to be welcome in any kind of left-wing party.aussieandy wrote:I should clarify that I think it is down to local culture. Things were obviously different 50 years ago.

Re: Marxist BLM tries to force innocent diners to bow to them. For Marxists, it's always about control.
This is what I'm saying. If you happen to be a Christian in 2020 in Wales or Scotland (and probably Ireland too) it is the norm for most Christians to be of the Left. If you are in the USA, it tends to be the opposite. I'm not entirely sure why it happened that way suffice to say, it is down to historical roots. For instance, Socialism in Wales was started by a guy known as Robert Owen who was also, a Christian in the 1820s. That set a precedent and tradition in the coal mines and the working people were also extremely devout in their church attendance. Fast forwards to 2020 and that culture still exists today there.
Whilst in the USA, I don't know why or when but somehow the Right became cosy with Christianity and the Left became the opposite.

Australia used to be that if you were Catholic, you voted the ALP (Left) and if you were Protestant you voted Liberal (Right) but that's largely changed a lot these days because of the high level of Atheists in this country. I don't know how that divides anymore.
I find it strangely liberating that I don't have to vote anymore.
