Lionshead is at 109,000 acres and has merged with Beachie which is at 158,000 acres and looks like it is possible that they merge with the 112,000 acre Riverside fire.
Holiday is now 105,000 acres.

Crazy stuff. So many people evacuating.

Now I hear that people on Facebook are blaming antifa arsonist. Never mind that some fire have been burning for weeks and that we have a strong wind pushing it. Never mind that the strong winds knocked trees down across power lines. Never mind that things are tinder dry. Nope, apparently we’re conservative and we are going with antifa on this one.
Facebook is a scourge. There is not always a man behind the curtain.

At least it wasn’t caused by ill-conceived pyrotechnics at a gender reveal party

actually... they are looking for a middle aged male with tattoos who started two fires near a dam. Some bystanders put the fire out. So regardless there are some evil people happy to help.

This is BY FAR the worst fire event in Oregon History. There will be dozens of towns and thousands of homes destroyed by the time this is over.

Maybe antifa is out lighting fires, beats me. What do I know.
I do know that there are often local "fire bugs" that like to go out and light fires every summer, and these guys also like to light more when there are enviromental factors that make their arson a "success". THings like, dry weather and strong winds; and/or large forest fires that they then try to make larger.
I also know that there are homeless people who accidentally start fires in these conditions as well.

Antifa? I guess anything is possible, but no one was blaming Antifa earlier this summer when people lit fires.

I think we are way to quick to pass rumors that coincidentally mesh with our political leanings on as fact, and it is good or right. Stay above politics and antifa.

All I know is there have been two reports I consider probable... 1 of those I consider to at least be factually reported.
The primary question I'd have on the second is if the report from the police is based off of internal police, or facebook news
Either way... We know there are people that would love to see the world burn and would likely try starting fires. Who are they? who cares.

Who are they? Well, not long ago I heard a rumor about someone heading to Central Oregon to riot around fires. Now we have fires. Coincidence? ;)

What we actually DO know is that we have looters out prowling through fire-evacuated towns and some are getting caught. And they aren't ANTIFA or black thugs up from the city. They are your local white boys:
https://www.statesmanjournal.com/story/ ... 463562001/

Two men were arrested and charged with multiple felonies for looting after a wild chase through the evacuated wildfire zone in the Santiam Canyon.

Anthony Travis Bodda, 21, and Alexander Justin Jones, 36, were charged with theft, burglary and attempting to elude police, among other charges, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

"I am disappointed that while in a state of emergency these people would victimize members of our community," Marion County Sheriff Joe Kast said. "The Marion County Sheriff's Office is committed to holding people accountable if they chose to victimize residents from our evacuated areas. We will continue to patrol evacuated areas and do our best to protect these areas from criminal behavior."

Officials said the incident unfolded like this:

At approximately 10:11 a.m. on Thursday, deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious van in the area near Detroit. Fire crews also reported seeing the van earlier in the town of Idanha and were concerned it was involved in recent lootings, police said.

Deputies located the van near the Gates area driving at a high rate of speed. Marion County deputies along with the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police pursued the vehicle. Police said witness reports confirmed the vehicle was involved in the recent lootings.

Anthony Bodda was arrested and charged with looting in the Santiam Canyon. The pursuit continued westbound on Highway 22 taking the exit into the Stayton and Sublimity areas. The suspects drove onto and through the golf course while deputies set up near Sublimity and successfully deployed spike strips and disabled the vehicle.

Two male suspects then ran from the vehicle. With the assistance of a Linn County K9 and other nearby agencies, one suspect was immediately located and taken into custody near the golf course. At the time he was spotted attempting to break into a home.

The other male was seen going into an animal shed near the Golf Lane SE area. He was located by a Linn County Sheriff K9 unit.

Alexander Jones was arrested for looting in the wildfire zone of the Santiam Canyon. Both suspects were taken into custody and identified as Anthony Travis Bodda, 21, and Alexander Justin Jones, 36.

The pair were taken to the Marion County Jail and charged with attempted theft, burglary, felony elude, attempted misdemeanor elude and reckless driving, interfering with an officer, possession of a burglary tool, reckless endangering, criminal mischief and criminal trespass.
