Ken,
Are you really truly saddened by Christians who advocate for a reduction in the numbers of weapons of war in this world?
Are you instead cheered when firearms sales go up as is the actual subject of this thread?
i don’t believe these are questions so much as judgments of what you THOUGHT my words meant.
these are ok questions. they do not relate well to the words i wrote, or my intent, and they go further to suggest i’m heartless and UNChristian. (you enjoy this kind of thing, don’t you?) from what you say, you find it amusing to chide others. it lifts your spirits.

i wrote:
i’m saddened at numbers of Christians clamoring to use gov “force of the sword” to beat swords into plowshares.
not at all cognizant of what they’re doing. “not i!”

These words represent a lot to me. i’ve learned a lot on this forum. maybe i can help you.

i am deeply saddened at numbers of Christians, esp those led by pastors, who clamor after government and human law INSTEAD OF seeking after God’s Truth, Wisdom, esp through Jesus Christ. “gov as god” is normalized.

“the worst” in my view is widespread “systemic” ignorance.
it’s one matter to know Truth and reject it. it’s another matter to not ever know it, AND reject it without knowing.

it was only on this forum i began to learn the concept of “by force of the sword.”
as i now understand it, governments are uniquely charged with “force of the sword.”
every vote, every human law is actually “by force of the sword.”

earthly governments are important. they serve important earthly functions.

they are not replacement for our 1 God in heaven. lines have been badly blurred in recent decades.
gov schools do nothing to correct, or put things in balance. or even to allow.

Falco Underhill wrote: ↑Mon Apr 05, 2021 4:00 pm You might think this constant preaching at people makes you look smart or righteous. The truth is you look immature and desperately seeking attention. Maybe slandering others is the only way you know how to get attention. It's pathetic.

Get a life.

Nor have I got time for this. This is the last post you will ever receive from me.
Your words are not what is useful and good in building up. While you may feel frustrated, how we speak to each other does matter. I fall into this at times too, so I do understand, but we all need to work harder at speaking the truth in love.

A forum is a place for discussion of differing viewpoints. If that is upsetting to you, it may not be the right place for you. I would not want to see such discussion take you to a place that you are not reflecting the love of Christ to others.
Robert, I hope you know I'm sincere when I say thank you for the correction and advice. :)

Also, I've decided this is not the place for me. (Which I've been considering for a while, anyways, for various reasons.)

God bless everyone here, Boot included! :P
Sincerely,
Falco

it’s sad when members leave, they don’t always leave a message, or a gracious message like this one.
i hope Falco knows he is welcome to return (as far as i know) and it’s not unusual for members to come+go.

time will tell. :)

God bless you, Falco+Falco.

Let's face it, we are all constantly being groomed to think in various ways.
temporal1 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 11:03 am (it’s not that i’m deaf, or stupid.) :)
But you often seem to imply people who disagree with you are groomed, deaf, stupid, incapable of clear thought.

 I think you are merely echoing the sources from which you get your news.
It's a cheap way of disarming a fact-based discussion.

If we want to do better than be useful idiots to whichever faction we feel most loyal to, we need to make room for reasonable, fact-based discussion, listening to a range of opinions without attacking the people. Let's make it a race to the top, not a race to the bottom.

i plan to respond in the Briar Patch. rather than bunny trail further.

1. i agree, grooming is a big function of politicians, “news”/not news media, and it thrives via the internet.
when i point this out, my intent is to suggest ALERTNESS. to NOT GULP, but, if it can’t be rejected, sip, don’t gulp.
 to make an effort to see where in the mire you’re sinking, and how deeply.

2. probably the most wretched thing about you is that you do not read for content.
it may not be deliberate. it certainly causes friction with others, some choosing to leave rather than put up with it.

In this case, here you have decided which news sources i follow -
when, in fact, i’ve consistently said i follow none. before the internet, i regularly watched CBS, NBC, PBS, sometimes ABC. no others. in school, i was taught to respect the NYT, WSJ, etc.

i’ve never viewed many “non-left” sources presented on this forum, whether brought to share info, or brought to be demeaned. i often read them here, as context for whatever topic/post.

you and others suggest common sense is not common, but must be the direct result of “non-left” media grooming.

guess what? FALSE.

- - - - -

btw.
i initiated a thread directed to you. did you notice?
i listened to a video interview of THOMAS SOWELL. i found it quite interesting. on many points.
i’ve listened to it several times. hope to listen again.

throughout, he repeated words IDENTICAL to words you often use on this forum. “facts,” etc.

he communicates many of the same things that seem important to you.
he comes to different conclusions.

i know Honduras Keiser is hard for you to read+grasp. the Thomas Sowell video is about an hour.
you prefer writing/talking to reading/listening.

but i would appreciate your thoughts in that thread. i’ll link here:

I really wish we could stick to discussing issues, rather than regurgitating our dislike for each other.

I know who HK and Thomas Sowell are, but haven't figured out yet who CM is. :?

my thread to boot has nothing to do with disliking anyone.

i initiated it in good faith because i noticed a common theme between boot+TS i wanted to learn more about.
i realize the OP may be confusing .. boot has told me several times he finds my posts confusing, i empathize.

he prefers short single sentences with specific content.
he wants others to read his lengthy posts, but not vice versa. again, i empathize. esp about my own writing.

regarding HK, i was referring to Conservative Mennonite, but i’m not sure that’s correct.
maybe he will correct me. :?

my interest is genuine. i was never optimistic about receiving a response of any kind.
i thought i might ask directly.

you all have no problem with the dislike boot aired in Credible News Sources, but i’m out of line in the Briar Patch.

I am conservative in outlook, temperament and disposition and I am a Mennonite but I am not a "Conservative Mennonite" as we understand that category here on MN.

thank you. after oj questioned, i had to rethink. possibly on MD you mentioned MCUSA? my memory is not clear.
and, if this were the case, it may well no longer hold?

would you use “cM” as is sometimes used on forum? or cA?
if you have a preference, if you’d prefer CM be removed, mods would probably take care of it.

that thread is likely to go to or stay in the graveyard of thousands of inactive threads.
