National Storm Report / MAJOR SNOWSTORM HITS MONTANA — Dangerous Roads & Power Outage Risk! / -12min
A powerful October winter storm brought heavy, wet snow and hazardous travel conditions to parts of Montana on October 10–12, 2026. National Weather Service warnings highlighted central and north-central Montana, the Rocky Mountain Front, mountain passes, and the Gallatin Valley near Bozeman.
Some forecast areas faced 10–20 inches of snow, with isolated amounts approaching 30 inches possible in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. These were forecast totals, not confirmed measurements across Montana. Officials also warned that gusty winds and heavy, wet snow could bring down branches and cause isolated power outages.
In this NationalStormReport update, we explain the storm warnings, road risks, mountain conditions, and what residents and travelers should know. For real-time travel conditions, check Montana 511; for official weather warnings, follow the National Weather Service.
It’s been in the 80’sF here in central Illinois.
Harvest time.
To think 20 years ago I wanted to move up to Kalispell, Montana. Glad that along with Northern Wisconsin never panned out. My shoulder I just had fixed is already complaining about it getting into the 30's tonight. That said if I had all the snow removal equipment running that is in the arsenal I could outfit a small neighborhood snow removal setup. Sadly haven't had a good snow since the first winter we got the house. I don't want it to be like I'm back in New Hampshire measuring cleared paths by so many mini dachshunds high by wide on a regular basis but some snow that required more than the single stage would be fun. Then again that means getting equipment running that hasn't ran so maybe i shouldn't wish that.

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

Well that's a very very long and crazy confusing story about someone who basically I was about 12-14 at the time, my memory is blurry and a lot went on. Anyway basically my world was falling apart around me between the neighborhood i grew up in going down hill, my parents financial issues, being a teenager. So since I done online school and my parents were absolutely way to trusting of me had a computer in my room with unfiltered and uncontrolled internet access. Well one thing led to another and got caught up with some people who had some extreme right wing political and racial ideas. I no longer have anything to do with those people or that stuff and looking back in hindsight i was exactly what they go for which is a young kid mad at the world who sees everything crumbling around them and wants the easiest target to blame. So yeah some of the people moved out there and it seemed like a beautiful place which it is from the stand point of the land and nature, but thankfully it never worked out. Not just because of the snow but also because had I moved out there at 18 like i had in my mind at 12-14 it would have been bad and i know i may not be typing this right now. Sorry for the derailment here but yeah like i said long story but that's the short go of it, my guitar teacher keeps saying i should write a book about my life but i keep saying who wants to read about me.
