I think it's entirely possible to empathize with people's pain and suffering and to let them know that we are on their side while at the same time encouraging them to take on the mind of Jesus in this very unfair, sin-filled, and indifferent world we live in.
So are you saying you don't think in the contexts I described that people like me should use our influence to make school a safe space for all children? Or use our influence to make sure the workplace is a safe place for employees? I guess I am confused and left scratching my head a bit regarding what you are disputing. Help me understand...

As I already noted I support being discipled into the spirit of Jesus. So that clearly isn't a disagreement.

From what i witness in present gov schools, quite a lot of effort is dedicated to teaching/leading Christian ethics/morality, while efficiently removing Jesus Christ/the Bible from the equation. The not-good answer to separation of church from state. :-|

It strikes me as bizarre. To teach Christian ethics/morality, while denying and hiding Jesus Christ. “It’s the same thing.” :?
There are many ways to mix-up Truth. To deny+hide The Author! Hebrews 12:2

“Is it enough to just "follow Jesus' teachings"?”

Thus, language like, “safe spaces,” and, “mindfulness,” and much more are put in everyday use, along with dismissive language, “it’s the same thing.” It’s really close to impossible to navigate (even for an experienced believer). i grieve for children, getting parts of messages, deliberately not in whole or in context. i pray for the Holy Spirit to protect+guide them through emptiness.

No, I believe you should do what you can to have a good learning environment for your students. But I also think that it may not be in the best interest of anyone who is the target of evil things being said about them to hear that what they need is a "safe space". Life is not safe.

Also, joey_the_ox touched on the inconsistency I sense about your push to use "suffering love" to change society and earthly kingdoms into the Kingdom way but then using other means to change society when it comes to racial issues. It seems you are saying "safe spaces" are the answer for women and people of color, not "suffering love". It seems you are making exceptions for certain categories of people. I'm wondering why.

Safe work environments (for women and people of color) are indeed something to stiven for.

Gary, does it seem right that I demand you to practice suffering love as a response to my rudeness.

What did Jesus say our response to such things should be?

Additionally, what do we mean when we equate rudeness with danger?

Good question. What does Jesus say about me treating you that way.

Jesus does teach suffering love as a response to evil, but not an excuse for evil. I think he would say I should treat you better rather than demand your long suffering.

Just like all kids say "mine" instinctively. We need to constantly address, confront, and teach against it at the individual and social level.
Except “racism” isn’t a sin listed in the Bible. It’s one that liberals decided to invent, who in turn claim all the sins in the Bible are actually virtues.
Racism in the Bible is called partiality.
No, it’s not. The Bible has no succinct term that lines up with the modern meaning of “racist”.

It is adding to scripture to claim that what the modern liberal calls “racism” is somehow called out in the Bible as a distinct sin (let alone specifically a death sin).

The term “safe space” typically includes affirming and celebrating LGBTQ lifestyles as well. Certainly it does in an MC USA context.

I note that joshgood is deftly avoiding this rather obvious consequence of embracing liberal doctrine, where “safe spaces” 100% include making sure LGBTQ people feel comfortable.

Citation: my “safe space” training I took at a prestigious university circa 2011.

This, I believe, was the original use of the term going back to at least the late 90's. I remember visiting a friend at American University in 2002 and the R.A. on his floor had a university-issued sticker on his door that had: "AU Safe Space" printed on a rainbow flag background.
