Do Holdemans use Anabaptist Financial and are they recognized as a church group under Anabaptist Financial?

AF used to, but about a year or two ago, they informed any borrowers who had used AF that they needed to refinance with someone else as soon as possible. Going forward they don’t recognise Holdemans anymore as fellow Anabaptists.

One of the people I go to church with had used AF to purchase his grocery store; he refinanced with the local commercial bank.

Holdemans and basically the rest of the plain world tend to be at enmity with one another. Most plain organisations that include a variety of groups exclude Holdemans.

On the other hand, worldly organisations that expressly serve plain people do usually allow us to participate.

It’s hard to put in words just how bad the enmity is, particularly in certain places amongst the older generation.

It is somewhat self inflicted because the Holdemans tend to consider themselves a notch above and hand out gospel tracts to other Mennonites.

Sort of like how most conservative Mennonites hand out gospel tracts to Amish.

(Personally, I try to hand out gospel tracts to anyone who will take them.)

I'm fine with them giving out tracts to the rest of us. I've collected a lot of Mennonite gospel tracts over the years - Holdeman tracts are the best put together and worded tracts for reaching people in my opinion. The encouragement is a blessing.

In my experience, the Holdeman's haven't ever given me a tract, but they have been friendly. I would point out given the opinion of them on the forum that many here would give them tracts too so I think that's a silly point of contention. My church longer ago would have had permitted Holdeman's to speak at least for leading the prayer if not a devotional. We can respond to the perceived divide or we can try to build bridges with common ground.
