You probably mean Upper Barton Creek that was noah hoover mennonites. They started leaving in 2017 for Birdwalk and roseville because of tourism. Some old order mennonites from Canada moved in, but the colony is pretty much empty.

Only other Low German mennonites would be able to influence the Lower Barton Creek on those matter because of language. They do not learn english in their schools( so they only learn the basic after school for trade) even though Belize's official language is english.
Do you know if the Noah Hoover community of Springfield, Belize is prospering still?
Yes it is still prospering.
Great to hear. It is a wonder Springfield doesn't also have a problem with tourists, since they are so close to Belmopan.

Someone described it to me as the most traditionalist, low-technology place there is, to a degree that goes beyond even other Hoovers, and to the point they are basically doing their own thing now. I wonder if that might keep tourists away?

Just out of curiosity where have you heard that?
I think it would have been about the Upper community, but this came secondhand from someone who had recently visited another Hoover community.

Some group is running around Belize trying to do this, don't remember the name. I guess the Hoovers considered Belize a "lost cause" now. I can perhaps try to find out some more details.
They are still growing in Belize though. There are always groups who try to target those who are more conservative. It happens all the time in Latin America against the Old Colony Mennonites.
would be great if you could get more details from that yes.
The EPMC has found fertile ground in converting Old Colony Mennonites in Bolivia. They have three congregations and growing there.

Yes, possibly. Barton Creek also had a popular tourist attraction up past upper Barton Creek consisting of a large cave with a creek running through it with skeletons from ancient Mayan rituals, Mayan pottery, and Mayan jewelry inside the cave. That probably played a huge role in the amount of tourists that passed through the community.

They are still Noah Hoover. There is no way to be more conservative tech wise if there is no engines used already.
Someone who talked about belize with JohnH probably mistook the lower barton creek and daughter colonies with the noah hoover. Tech wise are the same, on clothing the lower barton creek men can also use overalls, and women's head covering is the same as the traditional old colony but always black. The main difference is the schools, the lower barton creek does not teach english or spanish in schools( the traditional old colony also do not teach that).

would guess they are converting excomunicated old colony mennonites and not the ones living in the colonies.

It’s always possible - for example there’s a group in Missouri attempting to use more traditional / primitive forms of roofing (thatch roof instead of asphalt shingles)

Why would they see group value in that? Typically as groups, we cling to current practices, not go back to practice that none of the members ever experienced first hand.
Sure, individuals join conservative groups where the individual had no prior experience, but there is typically an unbroken chain of the old ways within the group.
This thatch roof idea seems to be different. What is their idea and purpose behind it?

With all the regulations local municipalities impose on homeowners, I can't imagine that would fly anywhere.
