Never, that's never wrong. How much time and energy do we spend doing that here on MN? Very little.
Stepping back and seriously examining Scripture would really help. We should do more of that. And Scripture has a WHOLE lot to say about the topic we are discussing in this thread.
There are many great topics with few responses that could be brought forward, and many such topics with 0 response.
Lots to explore.

i don’t want to dismiss or criticize members who bring tough passages that cause discomfort for sinners.
Truth applies to everyone equally. It needs examination.

I agree. We need more serious discussion of Scripture, not less. And we need to be more aware of our sin, not less. We are all sinners, of course.

I thought the 1 Corinthians 5 thread went quite well, for instance. Without hostility.

This is a guy speaks out against all the keyboard ninjas out there. Don't blow him off by his looks. He's a Godly man and maybe his beliefs may not mirror the conservative Anabaptists belief system, he makes a lot of good points in this video. He looks like a left-over hippie, which draws me to his podcasts.

That's Stephen speaking to the Jewish council and a crowd that had seized him on false charges and was about to murder him.

Are you suggesting that's how Stephen would have spoken in everyday conversation on an Internet forum? I think the context matters.
Of course context matters and they didn’t have forums.
I think that there are two forms of communication going on here, there is a refusal by several members to actually answer questions and they instead try to redirect it and again repeat claims that they refuse to provide support for which is a form of hostile communication by seeking to control the narrative. Then there is several members openly speaking their mind. Both sides dislike the other persons form of communication and insist the other is at fault.
My point though is that if context is important then equally so is how one responds to promoted sin or defended sin.
This is the internet, if you get offended having your opinion challenged, just know that many of the sentiments either by conservatives or liberals would never be tolerated in the opposite church. Forums have a diverse group of communication and style and I appreciate the freedom of diversity.
I’m not interested in arm chairing a discussion though with you as I don’t see it being very productive and you were responding to me calling someone to consider the language they used.
I’m happy with the moderators and what they do.

Scripture gives us instructions on how to communicate with one another.

Here are some verses to review that can help us to check how well we are doing in being guided by the Spirit.

i sometimes wonder if there is such a thing as not being able to grasp a thought without first “redirecting” it through ones own filters then representing it as though there was no original starting place? Because, redirecting happens so frequently. It begs the question, “why?” Why not respond to the original question or thought? It might be a wiring problem.

TED TALK: JONATHAN HAIGHT / The moral roots of liberals and conservatives / -18min

He makes many good points, i won’t pretend to understand all, i don’t agree with all.
i appreciate his references to older cultures and how they deal with differences. The U.S. is still so young! Growing pains.

i believe he represents a secular and academic pov, tho not obviously saturated in present progressivism.

INCLUDES TRANSCRIPT!

It appears this was recorded in 2008! -
Which might explain how he was able to get libs in the audience to laugh at themselves.

Note: The video features some classical art which includes some nudity.
