This is the first CA female pilot that I have heard about.
Anyone know of others?

Is she still CA and is she still flying?

A wee little man can’t say, I’m sorry. A big man owns his mistakes and apologizes.
A wee little man trusts himself and his own discernment. A big man is humble enough to know that he needs the counsel and input of others.

Or maybe not...

In this video, Ruth is already talking about the moderately-conservative Mennonites 16 years before Scott's book.
Interesting point. Those lines were still forming in 1980, things weren't as set in stone as they are now.

I don't think she has flown in years. It was a bit of a fad at that time, a number in my parents generation got pilots license.

Seems we are carrying on a tradition. I fear we have lost some of the community focus and individual opinions and ideology has taken a bigger part here. Some of that is from a more openness of others allowed outside the faith.

It is hard to blend so many ways to live out our lives as differing boundaries are accepted by many.

Video was a great reminder of things. Thanks for posting it.

.. we have lost some of the community ..
my sense is the forum lost much of its original community, it was a young community, naturally they left for work, formal ed, marriage and families, also (from what others have shared) they left for FB and other social media outlets. i’d so hoped their younger sibs would replace them. that hasn’t happened. there was a big move away from family-centered desk top computers to smartphones.

so. everyone present does the best they can. with enough “originals” to keep it together.

still, new members continue to register - largely with very similar hopes+questions as ever!
the interest is there. (my perception)

(i’m pretty sure) if “the community” returned to be anything as it was, there would be a natural and spontaneous refresher.
it could. it might. i do not know.

i don’t believe interest has faded. interest in Truth won’t fade.

- - - - - - -

i’m glad i registered in time to witness the last phase of the original (if you will) before it morphed away.

i sure wish those who leave, originals or not, would stop by to say hello now+then.

Members used to do that, esp in the off-season months - like now.

appleman and CountryBoy, PrincessforGod, Sunbeam, hopenafuture, Searcher, so many! PaulJD. Skylar.
george! PastorRich.

i’m pretty sure some stop by to read now+then.
i hear from one who is glad politics is no longer visible to the public.

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

Amazing! I'm amateurishly interested in aviation and here in Lanc Co, and my growing up - a private plane said "money" and "businessman" (as all the Mennos I know who ever got into or get into private aviation (other than missionary work) have those 2 things) But I've never known a Menno woman to be involved in that. I'm guessing those ingredients maybe? and some gumption?
I'm very curious what she did with those skills throughout her life?

A Confessing Church would acknowledge the inescapable realities of sin and injustice in every human institution, including every political party. It would wholeheartedly reject any suggestion that one party or movement is the party of God. Paul D Miller

I suspect it was more affordable then. Several family members could chip in to keep costs down. It seemed similar to owning other recreational vehicles like a boat or ATVs. It was a recreational pursuit. My grandparents would fly to Georgia just to visit just like people drive today.

Is that book still in print or available? I would love to read this couple's story.
