Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

HHS, FDA. CDC, and so on are certainly “health authorities”.

Many of us questioned the credentials of people like Dr. Fauci but were told we had to blindly submit to “health authorities”.
No one said blindly submit the other way around either.

Do we have to distort everything to make points? Really?
There most certainly was. It would be convenient for many to forget, but I have not forgotten.

Now we hear many bemoaning that “faith is lost in vaccines”, along with threats that somehow our kids will be afflicted with terrible diseases. I am no longer interested in hearing attempts to persuade using fear.

Go ahead and quote anyone here saying you have to blindly accept it. Or quote a government official saying it.

Obviously, they didn’t say “blindly”. But let’s review what actually happened:

- anyone who dared disagree with the official narrative faced being silenced on various social media platforms (see the Twitter files), and if a medical professional, threats to remove their licensure.

- threats to be unable to work / have a job unless one submitted to whatever the government was requiring

- not allowed to meet for worship unless vaccinated

Notably, people who aligned politically with a certain alignment felt very comfortable with the above and told those of us who had concerns to just submit, obey the government, trust science, and so on.

I am simply pointing out the rank hypocrisy of that, because I’m not hearing them now saying the same things. Instead, they are disagreeing with mainstream, published science and wanting to cite alternative sources; claiming the government isn’t qualified to tell us to make health decisions, and so forth.

It seems to me scaring people off taking Tylenol during pregnancy would have far fewer negative consequences than scaring them off vaccines.
High fevers during pregnancy are more dangerous to the fetus than acetaminophen.

And of all the pain and fever meds, acetaminophen is considered by far the safest for pregnant women. Aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are all considered more dangerous. Which is why acetaminophen is the drug of choice for fever in pregnant women.

So women suffering through fevers rather than taking acetaminophen to control them during pregnancy (or swapping out for other drugs) poses greater risk than acetaminophen itself.
Yes I’m aware of all that. My point is that if people are going to have an irrational fear of something it’s probably better for everyone in the long run if it’s Tylenol rather than all vaccines.

And I am pointing out your dramatic incorrect statements just further polarize and are not a factual basis or a reasonable argument.
If you notice, I called out Szd before you for basically the same thing.

This is not constructive nor does it do anything other then score points for our own side.

Just as ridiculous on both sides to distort truth.

What’s odd is those same people were proclaiming how we absolutely must do so 5 years ago.
RFK jr. and DJT, are simply NOT health authorities. Neither of them have any education or experience whatsoever.

Many of the ones during the pandemic did.
Obviously they are speak for the health professionals giving them their information and during the announcement the other day, a pediatrician t did speak.

During the pandemic during BOTH the Trump and Biden Administrations the government basically said:
  • COVID is a deadly and highly contagious disease caused by a novel coronavirus
  • Vaccines are safe, highly effective, and the prophylaxis of choice
  • Ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine and other internet home remedies are not effective treatments
Unlike RFK Jr.'s pronouncements on autism, all of those things had the benefit of being true.

I’m simply not going to forget who the people are who ordered me to inject aborted baby parts into myself, and threatened me that I shouldn’t be allowed to have a job unless I did so.

And I’m just simply saying factual non emotional arguments are far more effective.

Consider your post here,

Change it to

“I’m simply not going to forget that people were fired for refusing to take a vaccine produced from fetal cell derived DNA and using a fetal cell line to test it.”

No baby parts were chopped up and injected.

Is it valid to object to it on its abortion connection? Certainly. I can tell you that if you reduce your argument to drama and the antagonistic language you likely believe the other side is using, then you already gave up your moral position.
Accurate language, accurate argument trumps emotive arguments every day.
99% of the time, you aren’t actually talking to the person you are arguing with, you are talking to the silent witnesses.

Not one of these official recommendations issued by Trump today (just hours ago) in an all-caps screed has any basis in science. Not one. It is mostly the laundering of false information.
