As a Fox report, it will be dismissed and disputed, already in process.

You're constantly writing how news stories should be questioned because media outlets are untrustworthy. You don't think this news story should be questioned?

In this case, it's the school district where this allegedly happened that says Fox mischaracterized what happened. If Nick Sandmann can defend himself, why can't SPASD?

:?
i did not suggest it could not be questioned or would not be questioned. Or should not be questioned.
RZehr noted in his question with the word, “Assuming” .. which correctly makes space for verification of an initial report .. i think imperative, as in the Nick Sandmann case. :?

i do not know what happened in that high school, not anymore than anyone else.
i do not follow Fox. or NBC. or the NYT. for the same reasons.

I'm confused by your clause, "As a Fox report, it will be dismissed and disputed." To me this implies that questioning or "dismissing" the story is unfair and that it's only being dismissed because it's from Fox. Could you please clarify what you meant by it?

On this forum, Fox is specially criticized and questioned, RZehr has done it, several have - it’s not just in the world.
It’s not just libs. RZehr even questioned it in-his-question. Correctly so. Questioning initial reports is important, proven important.

i’m not specially defending or criticizing Fox. i never followed them - in my life.

MOST of my life was CBS, PBS, NPR - almost exclusvely. altho i was not at all political.
it was mostly background noise, weather, current events, in that order. sports-no.

Fox is dismissed as a doggedly conservative source. i wouldn’t know.
my perception is, maybe they were in the past?? i have no idea.

(once they hired Donna Brazille, i was convinced they couldn’t be doggedly conservative.)

i presume they have bias, equal to the opposite bias of msm? hard to do. maybe. i don’t know means i don’t know.

i read/listen to things - with questions.

I distrust Fox News and CNN. Both of them in my opinion are propaganda sources. Are they right on information? Often but the way they present it is very bias.
I don’t personally trust much media unless I can verify it myself or all the media sources I bother to glance at agree.
n a letter to East families, Superintendent Brad Saron called the article inaccurate and said it does not provide a complete account of what happened. The letter added that the district addressed the situation, which occurred in early March, when it was originally notified and has implemented measures to ensure something similar does not happen again.

Saron told parents, however, that student privacy laws prohibited the district from providing details about the incident. Therefore, the letter does not address specifically which parts of article, or the underlying claims, are not true.
This part though is someone crying “false” and refusing to clarify what is false. That is unfortunately a very poor statement to give the media. It would have been better to say they couldn’t comment on students or actions due to privacy laws. Of course this wasn’t meant for the media but they should have on what would happen.

i use caution with this, it’s routine for one AP report to be copied+pasted by (10-20+) “sources.”

i think of most sources as satellite stations.
as far as i can tell, my “local” news stations have become satellite mouthpieces for the Chicago DNC.
i rarely view a local news FB page. it’s gross.

it took me awhile to realize i was nearly hit by a tornado a couple of weeks ago.

Speaking of tornadoes, if all the media I read says a T6 hit, I’m not worried about that accuracy.
I don’t tend to trust subjective data very much and I mostly read the news for weather or nursing related news. I skim the news to see what propaganda over our president is trending. It helps to understand the perspective people here have.

i think, me, too. [i.e., perspectives]
i was always interested in “what the common people had to say.” That is, my folks and others listened to news on radio+tv, sometimes “talking back” to the radio/tv! but not being heard. no obvious response. same with newspapers, really. i don’t believe they ever wrote a letter to the editor.

The internet changed that. Common voices are heard, in all their glory and lack thereof.
This forum reflects a lot of that .. but, still, has the root interest in Jesus Christ, with Anabaptists the leading perspective.
This is not always a glaring fact. i’ve not seen it disappear.

There are pros+cons. There is tremendous ugly on the internet. Sometimes i fantasize God would strike down all power grids.
He could.

The first phenom i witnessed that was a real internet game changer for humankind was in the 90’s, when victims of predatory sex abuse began to “find each other” on the internet. A change in history. Abusers no longer held massive power to wholesale lie+deny.

It’s not perfect. Much has happened since then. Nothing on earth is faultless. Abuse continues.
Still, many have found voices as not before.

This forum reminds me of how life looked when i was growing up, listening to all those voices that were largely unrecognized.

“Where Mennonites and others connect.”

It’s not that they’re right or wrong. They’re right and wrong. Connecting.

i enjoy the many sources i’ve been introduced to here that are not just msm, which was all i had most of my life.
mostly with Christian perspective, often with cM perspective. sometimes non-Christians ask questions, speak.

“Where Mennonites and others connect.”

The young teens experimenting with the internet years ago had no idea what they were launching.
i only know because i read a number of their earliest posts! They were having fun, no big expectations, no confidence, really.
They dared to try. They stumbled onto a workable framework. With enough breathing room it hasn’t died.
Not as easy as it looks!!

Would you like to tell us your version of the facts that you think happened? In other threads, you criticised me for claiming that we sometimes can't know all the facts, and for questioning the veracity of the NY Times and arbitration panels.

So what source of authority would you propose in this case? (As a general rule, I usually try to believe women who say they are victims of sexual harassment until I found strong evidence to believe otherwise, and this is no exception.)
