There is something I cannot put into words about a flag celebrating homosexuality, which goes against the teachings of both Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, with the words "in the name of love" emblazoned on it with destroyed buildings from bombing campaigns in the background.

Love, indeed.

Don't be to sure. These are Jewish soldiers and Judaism tends not to be so doctrinaire about such things. The ultra-orthodox might be but they don't fight as soldiers. And the Talmud is far less binary about sexual identity than the typical evangelical Christian outlook. By some estimates there are 8 different gender identities found within the Talmud: https://www.myjewishlearning.com/articl ... he-talmud/
The Talmud, a huge and authoritative compendium of Jewish legal traditions, contains in fact no less than eight gender designations including:
  • Zachar, male.
  • Nekevah, female.
  • Androgynos, having both male and female characteristics.
  • Tumtum, lacking sexual characteristics.
  • Aylonit hamah, identified female at birth but later naturally developing male characteristics.
  • Aylonit adam, identified female at birth but later developing male characteristics through human intervention.
  • Saris hamah, identified male at birth but later naturally developing female characteristics.
  • Saris adam, identified male at birth and later developing female characteristics through human intervention.
In fact, not only did the rabbis recognize six genders that were neither male nor female, they had a tradition that the first human being was both. Versions of this midrash are found throughout rabbinic literature, including in the Talmud:

Orthodox Judaism has a traditional view on homosexuality.

Most likely, the soldiers are secular who posted these photos. Reform Judaism and other liberal but still religious sects are basically nonexistent in Israel. People are either fairly devout or are simply atheist or secular/agnostic.

That's not really true. Reform and Conservative are American categories, not Israeli. But according to Pew surveys, only 22% of Israeli Jews are Orthodox or ultra-Orthodox. A higher percentage are Masorti which would be roughly equivalent to Conservative and Reform in an American context. https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads ... servative/

In any event, The Israeli Army is secular and gay rights in Israel are essentially equivalent to those in the US. Gay marriage is legally recognized, gay adoptions are legal. And gays have been able to serve openly in the military since 1993. In fact, in 2014 the Israeli Army was ranked by The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies as one of the most LGBT-friendly in the world, far ahead of the United States: https://www.haaretz.com/2014-02-22/ty-a ... be12420000

So while you might personally disagree with Israeli soldiers showing gay pride flags, it is certainly consistent with Israeli policy and mores. This war isn't a battle between Judaism and Islam. It is a battle between a secular Israel and a religious-fanatic Hamas.

No mystery about words, the blasphemous flag now stands for all manner carnal sin, including the grave sin of pride, worship of self as god (idol worship). Blasphemy of God’s created rainbow.

In the U.S., no flags/logos other than national, state, local, military, should be on gov property, whether real estate, military property, Congress, in gov schools, public libraries, civic buildings, on uniforms, stationery. [imho]

No need for mystery, it’s not complicated. And, no, lust is not love.

t1, you’re catching on…

The U.S. first allied with Israel after they won the 1967 war and were a formidable force against Communism; the rest of the Arab states back then were getting arms from the Soviets. Before ‘67 the U.S. wouldn’t even sell arms to Israel and there was an embargo.

i began catching on in the obama years, esp when he openly stated his priority foreign policy was homosexuality.
it’s snowballed from there, hasn’t it?

t1, I hope you can appreciate the inherent irony of evangelical American Christians thinking Israel should invade Gaza, excusing 10,000 deaths including children and babies, and the end result is… hoisting a pride flag.
