Yes, but flu vaccines are not mandated. We still drive vehicles even with the safety features and those deaths are still happening. At some point, we have to accept the risk of life and move forward as best we can.
Of course…but what would the mortality rate be without the flu vaccine and traffic safety laws? This is about mitigating risk. It’s impossible to get rid of all risk?

Do you drive at 90 miles an hour and refuse to wear a seatbelt because otherwise you’re “living in fear?”

Breakthrough infections...

The highest rate of breakthrough infections that I am seeing among vaccinated people is 1%. (People who tested positive, but didn't necessarily have symptoms.)

Has anybody seen studies of anything higher than this?

The "fear" quips are really disturbing to me. Nobody is listening. People are just talking at each other most of the time.

There is a healthy fear of God and an unhealthy fear of God.

There is a healthy fear of Covid and an unhealthy fear of Covid. (or any other disease for that matter. That is why we discourage children from licking hand rails.)

From 1995-1999, Montana had a "Reasonable and Prudent" speed limit on Interstates. Some people had a healthy view of speed and drove accordingly. Others had an unhealthy view of speed and also drove accordingly. In 1999, Montana went back to setting speed limits again. Why? Because too many people didn't do what was reasonable and prudent.

If the majority of the US population would operate like regions or countries where people care more about their neighbor than their own preferences or political affiliation, we wouldn't have draconian measures and neither would we have naysayers.

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for? It is not a study but a daily tracking from the Province of Ontario.
Today's data shows about 49% of new positive tests were among the unvaccinated and about 34% of new positive tests were in fully-vaccinated people.
You need to click on "case numbers" above the line graph to get that data.

What are some of these nirvanas you have in mind that are better than the US?

Where I live, we don't have draconian measures. People can make their own personal choices about vaccination, social distancing, etc. - whatever they want to do. And people here seem to mostly be able to live at peace with each other.

These do seem to be a lot of people sick and in hospitals right now, but not with COVID. People are sick and ill with other things. I hear pneumonia, bacterial infections, all kinds of bad things. I suspect it's from spending the last year and a half avoiding medical care. Vaccinations or no vaccinations, the rest of these things seem fairly serious. People's health in general has declined really badly in the last year and a half. People are much more overweight and obese than they used to be. We will continue to see deaths rise, if this does not change.

So are you eating a low carb, high vegetable and meat diet? Are you keeping your processed sugar intake low? Are you doing all the things that will lower your risks of illness? No, it doesn't mean you will not have illness, but it lowers the risk.

How is your BMI? No, I don't really want you to respond to this question.

Why use a vaccine when there are other ways to strengthen our immune system?

If I remember correctly, before any vaccines were available, many Christians served as care givers for those sick from other pandemics. They lived their lives in faith, not fear. Why do we hide from this pandemic when many before us lived in the midst giving their lives to help others.

Every single study I've seen suggests higher rates and Israel's studies were showing higher numbers

Actually, I've lost considerable amount of weight over the past couple of years to the point I'm having problems keeping my pants up. :hi5

Without a doubt, a healthy body helps reduce risk from coronavirus, but it also strikes me as a kind of hubris to assume that oneself is soooo healthy that they are not at risk from serious complicatipons with coronovrius. I don't know what Jeff's sister's health was like, but she was only thirty-six years old.

Medical missions are a significant part of the legacy of Mennonites in Colorado. The Mennonites ran a TB sanitarium in Swink in the 1920's and later operated several hospitals throughout Colorado.

They also embraced vaccines. They closed and tore down the Swink sanitarium after TB infection numbers dropped to the point that the sanitarium was no longer necessary after the development of the vaccine.

I am perplexed by this view that taking a vaccine or other precautions is "hiding" from a padanemic. Do you really believe that the world would be better if TB or polio and other illnesses that have been almost erradicated by vaccines were allowed to spread throughout society?

I feel like you keep painting me as anti-vaccine. I am not. I am supportive of it for high risk people. I still think we have not run long enough trials and studied it in children long enough to know for sure. The Covid vaccines are a new type. mRNA vaccines are brand new. We do not really know the long term consequences. My position is high risk people can be a good study to see how things progress. If the death rates were higher, I would advocate for everyone to get the vaccine. They are not, especially in children. I think further study and time is needed since we are not pressed to save massive number of children. Those with high risk can and should get it. The 99% who are healthy and not high risk should not.

It is not an either/or for me. I think we should go forward, just carefully. I have stated this multiple times before. Seems to be ignored and my statements made into extreme statements. Not sure why.

We probably are talking past each other, as Ernie says.

What do you see as an unacceptable death rate that would lead you to support a vaccine mandate?
