Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
You disagreed with Josh about his statement as not accurate. I believe Josh is pointed out the administrative issues that are a bigger problem.Ernie wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 8:34 am This is what I said initially.I'm not sure what I have said that is wrong.![]()

Here are a couple examples:
In Quebec the Canadian military did an audit onnursing homes (over 80% of covid deaths in Canada the last time I checked were nursing homes residents) found covid positive patients put in the same rooms as residents without. They also found in such scenarios nurses wiping the faces of these people with the same cloth. The Canadian military deemed the problem less to do with COVID but with policies, protocols, and poor hygiene practices.
In New York it was later stated that covid patients were placed into nursing homes for fear of overflow in hospitals. Some reports claim this caused 10's of thousands extra people to contract Covid and die. It goes without saying using New York as any kind of example of the dire circumstances from COVID is a farce but rather an example of policy issues and poor choices.
There was an article in our local paper recently where a nurse was blaming unvaccinated people for killing other patients in the hospital. She went on to say that when covid patients come in they are automatically placed in emergency room beds because they don't accept covid patients but need to transport them to the regional hospital. She said these people are unnecessarily taken up emergency room beds and they don't even need them... If they don't need them then they aren't that sick and that is a major policy issue that they are even put there! But it seems to support making everything look more dire and ups hospitalization numbers unnecessarily.
These policies and poor choices are looking pretty evil and if the Bible is correct that the root of all evil is the love of money, then I don't doubt there is some real substance to Josh using the word "everything."

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
Ok, Wade. Thanks for the information.
I would not be surprised if there are hospitals in the US that fit Josh's analysis.
If I would have responded to Josh's original comments with "I disagree, but could agree if it wasn't an all inclusive statement." my objection might have elicited a different response from readers.
I didn't speak about Canadian hospitals, and don't know enough to make a comment on them. I am aware that Canada has been much more strict in making and enforcing Covid restrictions as compared with most places in the US. (My wife is from Canada and we found this out first hand a few months ago when we attempted entry into Canada.)

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
Around here it is mostly a staffing issue not an issue of space or equipment availability. An ICU requires certain staffing ratios. 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 depending on whether the patients are on ventilators, etc. Hospitals simply don’t have the staff to continually ramp-up additional ICU beds. And for a complex combination of reasons, they can’t easily bring in more staff. Partly they don’t want to hire a whole lot of new trained ICU nurses and other staff for a Covid peak that will likely diminish back down to more normal levels in a matter of weeks or months and leave them with more staff than they need. Partly there aren’t really nurses available who want to accept those sorts of short-term high-stress positions on a temporary basis. Even the big staffing companies don’t really have the available nursing staff to deploy. I know I wouldn’t want to gear up for that sort of high-stress and dangerous duty for just a temp job. Plus, ICUs aren’t high-profit centers, to the contrary. So most hospitals are just sort of holding things together with duct tape and bailing twine and hoping to get back to normal soon. None of them want to spend the time and money to build out expensive high-volume ICU wards if the need is going to dissipate in a matter of weeks or months. Cheaper and easier just to ship the patients to someone else.Ernie wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 2:00 pm Ok, Wade. Thanks for the information.

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
An artist and hundreds of volunteers are currently planting 660,000 white flags on the Capitol Mall to represent all of the Covid deaths in the US to date. Apparently the installation will run until early October and visitors are encouraged to personalize individual flags to memorialize their own lost loved ones. One easily gets numb to the numbers, but to see it visually is sobering.

I don't know who "they" is. But there are plenty of similar abortion-related memorials, although it is usually crosses, not flags. I used to drive by one in Waco every day on the way to work.
I'm not aware of anything that prevents you or anyone else from doing the same thing on a national scale.

Re: Coronavirus Outbreak
Considering over 60 million babies have been aborted (which is clearly very preventable), that would be a lot of flags - of course, the aborted get no memorials, no dancing TikTok nurse videos begging people to save lives, no stay of execution, no appeals. They just get ground up and their tissue used for science experiments and later turned into mandatory vaccines.

You think the NPS would allow it on the Mall, or anywhere else on federal property for that matter? I have serious doubts.
