2. It is happening, and it’s not a big deal.
3. It is happening, and it’s wonderful.
4. It is happening, and you’re a bad person if you oppose it.
You can replace “happening” with “gay marriage”, for example.

Are you saying it's your opinion that the decision about which books to add to the library has to happen in a public board meeting?Ken wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 1:03 amI'm not the world expert on this event. I was just responding to GaryK who posted it. Some googling brought up Twitter posts by local activists who have filed various open-records complaints with the state and, as of then had still not gotten any official response from the district but had gotten leaked lists which were passed around Twitter.ken_sylvania wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 12:33 amWho had to sue to get the list of books? Apparently the news references to secrecy was in response to the Superintendent and a few members of the school board coming up with a list of 130 books to censor in violation of state open meeting laws and district policy that require such decisions get made in public with public comment. In other words they came up with their banned books list in secret and the superintendent implemented it on his own. People had to sue to even get the list of books they removed. The district's actual book selection committee reviewed all 130 books and found that only 5 of them met their criteria for possible removal. Nearly half had nothing to do with LGBT or trans issues but were targeted because they addressed topics like racism or diversity. And that is when conservative members actually called the police on those on the district's textbook review board that they disagreed with.
I'm curious - are the decisions to add books to the school library also subject to open meeting laws, or just decisions to remove books?
Generally speaking any group decision-making that any district does is subject to open-meeting laws. That doesn't necessarily mean every part of the process happens in open meetings. But the actual decisions are supposed to be. So, for example, a committee of teachers might review new textbooks for science and forward their recommended choice to the board which will review and approve/disapprove that recommendation at an open meeting in which that agenda item was noticed to the public and the public is free to come comment. A lot of agenda items don't generate much if any public comment. The only things school boards are allowed to do behind closed doors in executive session are certain things like personnel decisions.
5. i googled, quickly checked the AP (and 20 identical msm reports) - thus proving (all above).
public or private, school libraries are for school students, not the general public.Josh wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 9:44 am In our schools, proofreaders review new books for the library. If lots of other schools’ readers approved a book, it might just automatically get approved to go in.
We certainly would not appreciate the federal government and the ACLU telling us we have to have pornographic books on our school library shelves, accessible by first graders.
This needs to be criminalized with prison sentences.

“The Army, Navy, and Coast Guard effectively de-emphasize gender in an integrated environment,” the report states. “Instead of saying ‘ma’am’ or ‘sir,’ recruits in these Services refer to their drill instructors using their ranks or roles followed by their last names. Gendered identifiers prime recruits to think about or visually search for a drill instructor’s gender first, before their rank or role.”
On the bright side, surely this means all the world’s important and hard problems must be resolved, right?!GaryK wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 10:30 amhttps://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/y ... %20discord.A new academic report on efforts to integrate Marine Corps boot camp recommends dropping gender-specific salutations for drill instructors, but service leaders are not convinced they want to take that step.

Let me get this straight. The claim here (and in right-wing media) is that there is a vast conspiracy out there to "groom" and force school kids into an LGBT life against their will. And the evidence presented so far (at least in the last 10 or so pages of postings here) is the following:
