Homosexuals chant: “We’re coming for your children”

How do you know “many gay people live cautious closeted lives…”? That’s not my experience nor does it jive with a perusal of the culture in 2023. Gosh, that doesn’t even jive with a perusal of Honduras in 2023.

I’m sure there are some LGBTQ folk that are closeted for this or that reason, and I’m sure some have realistic fears of violence. I’m simply dubious about your assertion that it’s “many” which seems intentionally vague to make a point.

At the risk of repeating myself, the brazenness of the drag March in NYC, belies the assertion that “The current threat against the LGBTQ community is worse than when the mass shooting occurred at the Pulse nightclub…” and that “Our kids are not safe. Our trans siblings are not safe walking down the street”
Spot on, HK and amen.

That may have been more true 30 years ago but you must have not been paying attention to what's happening around the country. Various marches in various places with evil behavior and indecency.

Haters of God, haters of what is good.

And then infiltrating the church with not the Apostles Creed, or Nicene Creed but

"The Sparkle Creed
"https://churchleaders.com/news/453937-c ... icism.html
That word, “hate.”
This June has been THE WORST, so bad we may hope there will not be another.

Hate has been exposed more clearly than before. Hate is poison, not life-giving.
It’s painful to witness so many in such deep misery. May they no longer fool themselves or others, but begin to seek authentic peace through Truth.

God is not fooled.

Calm down, Ken. So out of a population of 20 million LGBTQ folk there are, on average 30 of them killed a year - that may or may not be motivated by animus towards their sexuality or trans-ness. Tragic as that is, it's not exactly a genocide nor is it the reality most LGBTQ folk actually live with. Privileged teens and college kids, living in one of the queer-friendliest places on earth have little to fear in terms of real-life consequences' for being queer. They can chant whatever they want, and they do. I was pointing out that if life were truly so dangerous for them, if they truly feared a regression to 1950's closeted-ness, if the backlash were actually anything beyond banning pornographic books in deep red states; they'd probably think twice about chanting about other people's children. Their brazenness belies their claims to fear.
I'm perfectly calm. Those were all examples of documented hate crimes, not just some LGBT person getting killed in a random act of violence or some personal conflict unrelated to their sexuality. The number is MUCH higher if you count violence that could of been LGBT-hate related but for which there was insufficient evidence to prosecute or a perpetrator wasn't caught.

And yes, many gay people do still live cautious closeted lives because they do fear public, professional, and family backlash. And yes, even violence. They are not the young ones living in places like San Francisco who are being flamboyant and provocative. There isn't one big LGBT union where the gay board of directors decides on some public relations message for all gays to follow. You know that as well as I do. So there isn't some "THEY" (to use your phrase) that decides things for the gays. It is millions of individuals all making their own decisions and disagreeing about everything just like everyone else.

You are quibbling about the term "many"? How many would constitute "many" to you?

People actually study this subject. Here is one study reported in the Yale School of Medicine that estimated the number was 83% worldwide and 37% in North America. https://medicine.yale.edu/news-article/ ... udy-finds/ Is that "many"?

LGBT people are a large and diverse community. Why would you think that attention-seekers at inner-city pride parades are representative of someone living an ordinary life in a small midwestern town? Do we judge Christianity by the most fringe attention-seekers? Like say the Westboro Baptist Church people who are always out counter-protesting? Do these people represent you and should we judge you by their actions?

It seems to be your argument that gay people are some sort of uniform group that thinks and acts in lock-step according to some master public relations plan. I'm simply pointing out that this notion is no more true of gay people than it is for any other segment of American society.

As per usual, Ken you’re attributing thoughts and positions to people with whom you disagree. I don’t perceive the LGBTQ crowd to be monolithic in their thinking and lifestyle; indeed I find the grouping of them this way to be anachronistic and purely political.

Nevertheless, you seem comfortable over-generalizing about the fears of the queer community when it suits your argument.

Again, to my point - for the people that marched in the drag parade - that subsection of the queer crowd; if they really believed they were in danger they wouldn’t be chanting about other people’s children. As it is, I’ve observed not a few gay and lesbian takes on these parades that state unequivocally that such displays set equal rights back and invite a backlash.

Ken wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 1:19 am More than 600 LGBT people have been killed in the US over the past two decades in hate killings (targeted for death specifically because they were LGBT) https://www.coloradoan.com/story/news/2 ... 670264002/ and that figure was from 2018. The number has escalated since then
It's nice that you at least include a link so that we can see for ourselves that the article you link to doesn't say what you imply it does. In fact, the article says very clearly that they don't know how many of these killings had anything to do with the person's sexual orientation.

I can't help but be reminded of ChatGPT and it's ablity to make up statistics and supposed cases and legal precedent out of nothing.

What you wrote was
If queers were so afraid of a reactionary backlash and were LITERALLY. DYING. IN. THE. STREETS. Wouldn’t it be strange for them to publicly announce to America that they were coming for the children?
And my point is simply that there is no connection at all between young activist types doing provocative things in gay pride parades in gay-friendly cities like San Francisco versus ordinary gay people living ordinary lives in ordinary suburbs and small towns across the rest of the country. The people being provocative are NOT the same people who feel threatened or are discriminated against for simply being gay.

There is no group of "them" and "they" that is coordinate messages or anything else in the gay world. Any more than there is in the straight world. So the question you are asking is nonsensical.

It is as nonsensical as looking at redneck meth heads in West Virginia or biker gang outlaws in Texas asking why they are making white people look bad.

Thank you for underlining my use of personal pronouns - they (the pronouns) were a reference to the queers who were chanting inasmuch as that’s what this post is about; a group of queer folk chanting inanities at a drag match. My framing of the post, “The Queers…”, was a riff on SZD’s post that I quoted.

I never suggested there was gay coordinating committee that sends out talking points I’ve already explained that I understand the heterogenous nature of LGBTQ folk; thanks though for once again attributing ideas to me that I do not hold.
