Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

He defied a lot of typecasting. Airwaves LOVE typecasting! So efficient. Humans LOVE efficiency.

i sense CK was NOT:
1) a hollywood-type star or heart throb. he was a pretty ordinary guy. not out to seduce or beguile.
2) a televangelist.
3) a cult leader.
4) an Anabaptist. BUT, i sensed indications he might go there, given time and exposure. Many have no exposure.
5) a man with a lot of time. only a few years into adult years.

As I have said many times, one of my biggest concerns is that many Anabaptists hop on the evangelical -> liberal progressive pipeline. Here is an example of an Anabaptist whining that her fellow Anabaptists won’t get involved in politics enough:

My prayer is for Amish bishops to lead, esp in times of trauma. The polar opposite of media circus for-profit INDUSTRY.
Erika is at acute risk. prayers for Erika.
Temp, have been watching the memorial for over 4 hours (so far)- prayers for Erika are piwrrful, she is giving such a strong Christian message (through tears falling) and she has shared do much of cute faith and Scripture- I hope everyone sees it (replay) and she quoted Jesus’ words regarding the murderer when she said “Father forgive them, they know not what they do “and she publicly offered forgiveness to the murderer. Some think of him as a strong father figure, others see him as stirring up hate. Some admire how polite he can be in debate, others hear only harsh words. In the end, how we see Kirk may tell us more about ourselves than it does about him.
Wesleyb wrote: ↑Sun Sep 21, 2025 2:42 pm I’ve been considering the fuss over this the past weeks and here’s my conclusion. I had not heard of this man before or if I did, I didn’t pay attention. All the quotes being thrown around are cherry picked by either his supporters or detractors to prove their point and I don’t feel a need to listen to hours of his content to form an opinion. I have heard enough to know he’s not someone I will hold up to my children or my church as a role model or hero, but I will acknowledge that he may have done a lot of good.

The real test will be his legacy. If he has been pointing people to Jesus we will see a lot more serving the poor and disadvantaged, loving enemies, and peacemaking. We will see a lot less religious hypocrisy, enforcing godly values by force, compromising religion for the sake of politics and the wealthy storing wealth for their own use. If we see people claiming to be influenced by Charlie Kirk engaging in behavior that clashes with the life of Christ in the scriptures then either he was preaching a false Jesus or he was not preaching the true Jesus in an effective way.

Yes, I’m skeptical, but I do also have a certain amount of genuine hope. The word of God is powerful.
I like your focus on legacy, Wesley. If the results of his influence are Christlike love, serving the poor, and peace, then Christ is at work. If the results are hypocrisy or chasing wealth and power, then something is off. In the end, what may matter most is which Kirk we choose to remember and what we do with that memory in our own walk with Christ.
President Trump just mentioned Charlie was not about money, and bought a lot of his clothes at Goodwill- interesting facts are coming out about him by so many- I think he went into uncharted territory - I guess his personal calling wasn’t necessarily to feed the poor as we have the entire church to do that but a very important spiritual battle he was engaged in over the minds of young people.

I really appreciated Erika Kirk's testimony at the funeral.

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

Utah Valley is a big public commuter school where students generally lean conservative and where the most common majors are things like business, marketing, education, nursing, and psych. It also functions as a community college where lots of students go to get their basics out of the way before transferring to more expensive 4-year schools. And it reportedly touts its strong connections to the Mormon church as home to the world’s largest education institute for young Mormons.

What evidence do you have that students are being indoctrinated and brainwashed at Utah Valley or at any of the other schools where he spoke? Or are you referring to its conservative Mormon ties as the "indoctrination and brainwashing?" that Charlie Kirk was doing battle against?
Valerie was referring to "Campuses" in general, not just Utah Valley. Don't change or distort the focus of her post.

So on which campus is this brainwashing actually happening then? If it helps, his current tour was to colleges in Utah, Colorado, Minnesota, Virginia, North Dakota, Indiana, Louisiana and Mississippi.

i’m about half through her message. it’s hard to view, the most important message.
she needs prayers, protection, wisdom beyond her years.

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

If you want to discuss the fact that some colleges and universities are NOT brainwashing and indoctrinating young people, this thread is not the place.

I’m not the one who raised the topic and made the accusation. I’m just asking for clarification and details.

This CK episode might be helpful for those of us new to him.
27:00 min mark: They describe CK as the current “Seinfeld”.

Desciption:
$28 Can Save a Baby’s Life
A scared young woman. An unexpected pregnancy. One ultrasound can change everything.
80% choose life after seeing their baby on the screen.
Give just $28 to provide a free ultrasound—and help a mother choose life.
You'll receive the story and ultrasound image of a baby saved because someone like you cared.

Interesting how he enjoyed humor, without betraying the serious matters of faith, the sanctity of life, rebuking sin, and more.
That’s NEW for many. It takes courage.

You have ample opportunity to explore Charlie’s
Mission it’s all over the internet, although it may be lost on those who cleave to the ideology he was trying to break through. I will not spend time with you on this. Especially here. You’re more interested in arguing than “seeing”
