I didn’t exactly mean it that way. I have known Christians who have felt called to serve the country and even though I couldn’t do it, I don’t judge their decision. I don’t think they look at it like you’re conveying either. It is, I realize, a topic that denominations formed over the difference of interpretation of Scripture. There are those who explain their understanding of Scripture in these regard different than Anabaptists. Jehovah Witness agree with youbut they get other things wrong so I can’t say they get that part right either- most denominations don’t interpret the Scriptures to abstain from joining military and it’s not that they are righteous killers. I suppose because the God we know sent people to kill- I have always heard live your enemies as meaning your personal enemies and So I just leave room for that interpretation.R7ehr wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 8:07 pmIf I understand you correctly, you seem to hold the idea that standing and killing someone (as a soldier) and being killed, is righteous.
But fleeing is deny Christ, even though He said to his listeners that when a foreign army invades, they should flee in Matthew 24:16.
When Jesus gave the instruction to flee in His prophetic words as what was to happen to Jerusalem- I can see it being justified as conveying Christians should always flee in the face of persecution, but in many countries that is not possible. Thankfully because America is free, and people laid their lives down to keep it that way (so far) it is a safe place to flee if one is able to.
