Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

I'm watching this story unfold. There's going to be plenty of misinformation floating about this action.
I've watched the Middle East news ever since the 6 day war in 1967.
What I do know is Iran has been threatening Israel for decades.
I do know that according to multiple nations, Iran has continued to enrich uranium for nuclear bombs.
I do know that a number of Arab nations have allied with Israel and stopped retaliatory missiles against Israel.
That's all I know for sure right now.
We're praying over the entire situation.

To be clear:

The wars, actions and agenda of the state of Israel is by no means a reflection or representation of the Jewish People.

Israel is not a synonym for Jews or Judaism.

It is a political entity created less than 100 years ago.

The Jewish people are a religious collective belonging to many nationalities around the world.

Israel is not our country nor are their leaders our representatives.

We’re going to be at war with Iran in about 24 hours now. Aren’t we?
The statement from trump and marco rubio gives me a bit of hope

but i thing de-escalation will be dificult depending on the iranian response israel just kill the chief commanders of the army, revolutionary guard and other high profile members. Let's what the response of iran will be. This is a bad decision made by israel all instigated by netanyahu to avoid jail time in his corruption trial

Israel continues to enrich uranium for nuclear bombs and indeed has a nuclear arsenal, although they lie and say they don’t.

Very well said Thomas and a very good reminder. Antisemitism is uncharitable and something Christians must avoid. But speaking out against warmongering is an act of charity. Israel should lay down its arms and pursue peace instead of bombing residential areas - in both Gaza and Iran.

I don't know who Hen Mazzig is, or how reliable of a source he is...but I find it a bit unbelievable that he has the inside scoop on multiple countries covert military operations. And that no other main news sources from other countries have picked up on this "inside scoop".
“Helping” could simply mean allowing US planes to launch from US bases in those countries.

That statement was made before the strike and was likely a deceptive move to let Iran think they still had time to work out a deal.

Many plain people would question "watching the news" for 58 straight years, particularly TV and radio news, but also online sources of news as well.

My understanding is that diplomatic relations broke down and the Iranians did not want to make a deal (or at least, not on terms acceptable to America / Trump).

If a country won't make a deal with the most powerful country in the world, then they may have trouble facing their nearby enemies on their own. Making a deal with America would have been a very wise thing for Iran to do, and they wouldn't be facing war with Israel, who is more powerful than they are.
