Re: Haiti Kidnapping
Clarification - CAM Administrator David Troyer said this AM "people who sought to help us provided funds to pay a ransom and allow the negotiations to continue...however, after many days of waiting and no action on the part of the kidnappers, God worked in a miraculous way to allow the kidnappers to escape."
While a ransom payment seems to be implied here, it is not entirely clear from this statement that funds were actually received by the kidnappers...and protocol in such situations precludes discussing the details around any ransom payment.

Why would he mention it all then?Dan Z wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 3:31 pmClarification - CAM Administrator David Troyer said this AM "people who sought to help us provided funds to pay a ransom and allow the negotiations to continue...however, after many days of waiting and no action on the part of the kidnappers, God worked in a miraculous way to allow the kidnappers to escape."

True - I suspect my initial impression above was correct, but based on brother David's words, I can't say so with 100% confidence at this point.nett wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 3:59 pmWhy would he mention it all then?Dan Z wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 3:31 pmClarification - CAM Administrator David Troyer said this AM "people who sought to help us provided funds to pay a ransom and allow the negotiations to continue...however, after many days of waiting and no action on the part of the kidnappers, God worked in a miraculous way to allow the kidnappers to escape."

Someone wondered if this is only for hillperson. No, I am offering this to anyone.Ernie wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 2:40 pmIf you pm me with your email address, I can send you a link to Sam's three hour testimony.hillperson wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 1:06 pm https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.miamih ... 30592.html

Re: Haiti Kidnapping
Everybody is wondering if a ransom was paid.
I think David wanted to clarify that money was offered (since that story is being circulated), but he did not want to say whether or not the money was given to the kidnappers. CAM, like many organizations and governments, does not pay ransoms. No organization wants it to be publicly known that if someone kidnaps their employees and volunteers, that family members or churches that will pay ransoms.

I think its a little like wondering if the swat team took out the guards silently without telling the captives. They didn't answer that question so...Ernie wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 7:29 pmEverybody is wondering if a ransom was paid.

I doubt CAM payed money, but if a private individual did, I doubt we would ever know the truth and speculating about it is pointless other then to try and cast shade on CAM. There are plenty of legit reasons to question supporting CAM but this isn't one of them.

I expect once the dust settles, someone will eventually write a book about this whole saga. It has all the elements. And then we'll finally get some of the details.Soloist wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 7:48 pmI think its a little like wondering if the swat team took out the guards silently without telling the captives. Harvey Milo Yoder (or is it Milo Harvey Yoder now?) has written quite a few books for CAM and seems to enjoy writing.
