I'm suggesting that Ukraine does not have nearly enough of these to stop the convoys.

"choppy seas...." uh huh.

.. The BBC has not been able to verify either claim. ..
I'm just pointing out that the Russians were clearly the ones lying when they claimed the vessel was sunk by rough seas. Their first press release talked about a storm.

i understood the report to say the DAMAGED ship was being towed, then sunk in choppy seas.
a damaged ship would be more vulnerable to sinking, calm or choppy seas.

i don’t presume your twitter find is proof of anything.
your response to it is more proof of your personal interpretation+desire. full stop.

as has been proven AMPLE times, even on this forum, a picture is worth a thousand words. it’s not the full truth.

if your current gig doesn’t work out, maybe your next stop could be the NYT?

There are a bunch of photos now floating around of the damaged and sinking ship. Taken by sailors on the Russian and Turkish ships involved in the rescue of sailors before it sank. They all show flat calm seas, not the storm that the Russians claim sank the ship.

It isn't just twitter. For example, here is the Daily Mirror from the UK showing photos taken by a passing Turkish ship.

choppy seas do not always indicate a storm.
1) the ship was damaged, 2) it was being towed. no “gotcha” needed regarding choppy or calm seas. imho.

Sea state actually has standardized meanings in a maritime context. There are international scales for wind speed (Beaufort Scale) and sea state (Douglas Scale) that all nations use. It ranges from Force zero (calm seas) to Force 10 (Hurricane force). Rough seas are Force 5 and higher. What is shown in these photos are Force 1 seas (glassy with ripples). Rough seas (force 5 and higher) would show lots of whitecaps and sea spray and waves between 8 and 13 feet high.

The Russians were lying when they claimed that rough seas or a storm sank the Moskva rather than a missile strike.

In case anyone needs a reminder, the war between Ukraine and Russia (or special military operation, if you prefer) is a land-based special military operation, not a naval one.

What are you even talking about? The Russians have been using their navy to fire missiles at Ukrainian targets on land, they have been using their ships as anti-aircraft protection for bombers striking Ukrainian targets, and they have been mining the harbors offshore of Ukrainian ports to blockade international shipping from accessing Ukraine to prevent exports of Ukrainian grain and other products as well as imports into Ukraine. They have also seized international shipping in the area. Ukraine also scuttled some of it naval ships to prevent them from falling into Russian hands in Mariupol and other ports.

It very much is a naval war as well as a land-based and air-war.
