I think it might be a good thing if the right wing would get a handle on itself, instead of just being the left wing except on a 20 year time delay.

While I agree they are not credible, I don't find our military or government leaders to be credible either when it comes to treaty or military outcomes at least not with this current "conflict"JohnH wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2026 11:39 am
Iran's state media and official statements are some of the least credible things in the universe.
Some people, though, have such a deep-seated hatred for the current administration that they'll listen to obvious lies and deception instead. A sincere seeker of truth looks elsewhere than just official statements or finding someone who says, "Your enemy is a bad person!"
Thus the truth likely is somewhere in between
https://www.cnbc.com/2026/06/13/uae-den ... -iran.htmlThe United Arab Emirates said on Saturday that media reports it has agreed to release billions of dollars of frozen funds to Iran are false.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that these allegations are entirely false and unfounded, stressing that no frozen Iranian funds have been released, transferred, or facilitated through the UAE,” the government told CNBC in a statement.
Earlier, Reuters quoted four unnamed sources as saying the UAE has agreed to unlock the funds in a tactical shift following hundreds of attacks on Emirati military targets and infrastructure since the start of the U.S.-led war on Feb. 28.
But over the last week, the UAE has been spared Iranian projectiles, while Kuwait and Bahrain have been hit.
Reuters quoted two regional sources as saying the UAE had agreed to release a total of $10 billion, more than $3 billion of which had already been delivered.
The news agency quoted two other sources with knowledge of the arrangement as putting the total funds involved at $20 billion, adding that the move had been agreed in return for a halt to Iranian attacks on the UAE.
One of the sources with knowledge of the arrangement was also quoted as saying a first tranche of $3 billion had already been made available.
Reuters could not establish whether the funds earmarked for the transfers belong to the UAE or originate in long-blocked Iranian accounts in the UAE banking system, or elsewhere.
https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-ea ... 026-06-12/The UAE foreign ministry issued a statement early on Saturday categorically denying reports of the transfer “including allegations concerning $3 billion”.
The UAE statement “affirmed that these allegations are entirely false and unfounded, stressing that no frozen Iranian funds have been released, transferred or facilitated through the UAE.”
The UAE statement did not provide any further specifics.
Earlier, when asked by Reuters to comment on the transfer, a UAE official said the country was trying to ease tension and foster peace.
"The UAE's foreign policy is guided by promoting de-escalation and reducing tensions across the region, while advancing lasting peace and stability," the official said. "The UAE supports efforts, including those undertaken by the United States, to protect the peoples of the region from the repercussions of conflict."
There are pieces here that may be indicators and then it might just all be nothing but specifically specifying "no frozen iranian funds" and then "Earlier, when asked by Reuters to comment on the transfer, a UAE official said the country was trying to ease tension and foster peace."
Bottom line is we really have no idea what is happening but the US has covered up military damages, tactics and made claims that don't match reality.
Iran has done those to a quite dramatic range as well of course.
So... was money transferred? we know money has been getting put into Iranian hands by a few nations to get their ships through, is it possible that this was a US backed thing that is deniable? possibly but impossible to prove or disprove.

Are they suggesting that the price went from $4.11 to $1.59 without ever hitting $1.87? Must be AI.temporal1 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2026 11:13 am Memory Lane:Yes. i’m looking for -$2/gal gasoline.Key points:
2008 peak: ~$4.11/gal in July 2008 U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
2008 low: ~$1.59/gal by late December 2008 Democratic Underground+1.
$1.87/gal: Occurred in February 2009, not 2008 Democratic Underground.
Context: The sharp drop in late 2008 was due to reduced global demand during the financial crisis, not a policy change by the Bush administration Democratic Underground.
If you are looking for a 2008 price of $1.87, it would have been in the first half of 2009, not 2008.
For 2008, the only time prices were near that level was in the final months of the year, just before the crash.

KOMO NEWS / 'You can't expect the president to not correct that record after what we call 'trash talk' was had' / 11+min
“Vice President JD Vance delivered an update Monday from Switzerland following negotiations with Iran aimed at fully reopening the Strait of Hormuz and reducing fighting between Israel and the Iranian-backed militia group Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The talks, mediated by Qatar and Pakistan, began Sunday and stretched into the early hours of Monday. While the high-level discussions have concluded, technical negotiations are expected to continue in Switzerland this week.
Vance said the talks did not produce a final peace agreement but did establish diplomatic, security and nuclear-monitoring frameworks needed to pursue a broader and more permanent regional settlement.
"We laid a very good foundation for a successful final deal," Vance told reporters. "The final deal is the house. We set the foundation."
Vance said the negotiations achieved four key objectives:
Keep the Strait of Hormuz open:
Establish a coordination system to keep commercial shipping moving,
manage future incidents without escalation,
and ensure the continued flow of oil and natural gas through the waterway.
Create a regional deconfliction mechanism:
Set up communication channels to manage ceasefire violations, prevent conflicts involving Israel, Hezbollah and others from escalating into a wider war, and improve coordination among regional actors during crises.
Restore IAEA nuclear inspections in Iran:
Secure Iran's agreement to allow International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors back into the country and begin the process of permanently ending Iran's nuclear weapons program.
Launch technical negotiations for a final agreement:
Establish a formal process for ongoing technical talks among U.S., Iranian, Qatari and Pakistani teams and build the framework for a broader, long-term nuclear and regional security agreement.”
