Re: Political party - demands?
There's an age limit for voting in the conclave, isn't there? How many of his appointees meet that requirement? They have to be under age 80. You become ineligible on your 80th birthday. When Pope Leo was recently elected in 2025, these were the 135 cardinals that composed the conclave: https://en....

Re: The Anabaptist perception on self check-outs!
Long Beach California recently passed a law banning self-check outs for any items that stores keep locked up: https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/self-checkout-kiosks-long-beach-may-be-closing-new-city-ordinance/3782541/ They are basically making retailers put their money where their mouth is. ...

Re: Political party - demands?
FWWWI, Sarah is too old now to be made Pope. They are not insensitive to how expensive a Papal election is, nor how traumatic. JP II’s election would never had occurred without the short Papacy of JP I. If only JP had done a better job of filling the College of Cardinals with conservatives. JP appo...

Re: Questions about Mennonite denominations
Oddly, I cannot remotely imagine this topic impacting thinking on joining such a group. This confirms my pov about the topic. If someone was serious about joining a certain congregation and the ONLY reason stopping or confirming that decision is this topic…..you need to rethink. I think how a congr...

Re: Church of England gets a female as its leader
Yes, the British monarch is the head of the church. The Archbishop of Canterbury is the highest church office. This is the news JohnL is referencing: https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/uk-names-mullally-first-female-archbishop-lead-church-england-2025-10-03/ Considering that the last guy resigned in d...

Re: Divorce, remarriage and your church
Since folks keep posting on the RCC position let me clarify. There is no such thing as divorce period. What that means is, the church does not recognize a legal divorce to break the religious marriage. So civil divorced people remain married in the churches eyes. Ur that means the divorce is not si...

Re: Divorce, remarriage and your church
I am speechless. I cannot conceive of a church taking any “action” over a legal divorce. I see no indication anywhere in the Bible that a societal legal divorce offends God. I see remarriage as offending God. Tell us, what is the process for getting a divorce within the Roman Catholic Church? I thi...

Re: Divorce, remarriage and your church
In Anabaptist circles divorce is a religious process. My church has a process to follow and permission is rarely granted. Basically requires cruelty / abuse of the children thus necessitating a legal divorce, or else adultery which we believe breaks the marriage bond. In your church is there an act...

Re: Poll: Jesus's Second Coming
I have no idea what or when anything is going to happen in the future. And I don't think anyone else does either.
But I also don't worry about it either. Since eschatology doesn't affect how I live my life one way or the other.
