Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.
Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not after you.
I think I am funnier than I really am.

Most or all of this drama, humiliation, wasted taxpayer money could be spared -
with even modest attempt at presenting balanced facts from the start.

“The SHORTEST Day of the year in Finland” / 3.25 min
.. yawn ..
an aside.
in Finland, is asking about “winter weather” redundant?

Re: Children speak ..
My granddaughter, 10, asked to read from her Bible last night, and, tonight.
We read together over the phone. We started this (6 years ago?) .. before she could read.
We did this often, if not daily, for a long while/years.
For a few months, we have not read, so, i was glad when she asked to begin again.
She asked to read about Jeremiah and the Potter’s Wheel.
She was in a pottery group last winter.
We came to the word, “repentance,” i asked if she remembered its meaning ..
She said, confidently, “O. yes. It means to confess wrong doings and sin.”
We read, then talked about how we are like lopsided pots that God tries to mold into His vision.
She corrected me, “we are not slightly lopsided, but, very lopsided, and need lots of reshaping!”
Such wisdom!
We are using: DK The Children’s Illustrated Bible
https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/childr ... 1102273483
It has loads of pictures. Each page has a few pictures with references to period items, foods, maps, etc., which adds a bit of insight to everyday life in those early days.

Re: Children speak ..
i’m with my family now for awhile.
last evening, friday, i told my granddaughter i brought a DVD movie for us to watch.
“The Friendly Persuasion,” discussed somewhat in another thread.
http://forum.mennonet.com/viewtopic.php ... s&start=70
i told her it was about a Quaker family living in Indiana in Civil War times.
that we had Quaker family in Indiana in those times.
“What’s a Quaker?”
i told her they began in the 1600’s, and that we have some connection with early Quakers.
(wheels turning) .. “We have family that goes back that far?” yes, we do. and further back than that.
“but, but, they couldn’t have been in .. the U.S.?” .. no, they began in England+Ireland, but, they moved here, early-on, to the English colonies, especially to have freedom - to be Quakers.
“i’m Irish?!” - yes, in part. and more than that.
i went on to tell her Quakers are Conscientious Objectors, they do not believe in killing humans, they do not join the military. i told her that Quakers were unusual in that they allowed women as leaders. that she would see this, and some other things, in the movie.
we watched about half this evening.
she’s 10. her mother said she distictly remembered different parts of it (she was probably about 10 when she saw it). i was probably about 10 when i saw it (on black+white TV!) with my mother.
the lively goose, Samantha, makes it memorable for children.
on this trip, i’m amazed at things we get to discuss.
she is asking questions. i’m so thankful to be here to have that opportunity, esp to be first to discuss things .. that she will hear about elsewhere. i told my daughter to be thankful she is asking us first!
Conscientious Objectors. funny how things work out.

Re: Children speak ..
She is learning early about how the Church at large is marked by differences of opinion and interpretations. How different men interpreted the Bible their own way (not Scriptural to do so), gained a following, and started yet another sect/denomination. That will be another discussion as she tried to understand how/why this happened So a sect that believed in being conscienteous objectors, and have women leaders. Quakers never were Anabaptists- why not? We celebrate this kind of diversity? No other religion besides Christianity has so many differences which started new sects, as she matuer this may be another discussion, especially when considering the Holy Spirit.temporal1 wrote:i’m with my family now for awhile.
