Scam? DigiTech SoluTions

Post by temporal1 »

i received an email (i copy+pasted below) about owing $399 for a subscription to something i never heard of. it’s saying payment will be auto-deducted, but no reference to an account.

the email looks real (the copy+paste below looks goofy.) sorry.

Has anyone else seen this?
Am i safe to send the email to SPAM? Then ignore?
i have not clicked on any links in the email, or called their number.

This is a rather common scam, and I get a scam call like this every few days too. You can ignore it.

If an unwanted subscription shows up on your credit card, call your bank.

Scam:

Don't even call the 1-800 number to dispute. That just tells them that you are a legit target and will generate more spam from other fake companies. Just spam block it. If you never gave them your credit card then they can't bill you. But do keep an eye on your statements as always.

Credit card companies are used to this sort of thing.

March 2021 / i guess i have another one: NORTON (email)

This one looks plausible.
The email address: MIKE ROSS (rossmike421@gmail.com)
Often, the email address gives it away as unlikely.
i have not used anything “NORTON” in many years. This is claiming to be a renewal notice.

i “marked it as SPAM.” It disappeared. i clicked on nothing in the email.
