That doesn’t really answer my question. I asked what specific act the current bombing of Iran is retaliating to.JohnH wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2026 7:19 amOctober 7 would be a place to start, but the Iranian regime has been engaging in warfare against the U.S. ever since the revolution in 1979.
At a certain point, when people say "Death to America" over and over... believe them.
Presently, Iran has decided to bomb civilian targets like hotel buildings in a dozen countries. It should be obvious this kind of behaviour cannot be tolerated, unless you think a world where countries like Russia and Iran just lob missiles and drones at civilians is okay. It isn't, and it's disturbing to see the kind of justifications that show up on MennoNet for this kind of violence. Being anti-American and anti-Israel is not nonresistance and is not nonviolent.

Ok, let’s look at what Rubio said —
That’s not retaliatory. That’s preemptive, which is an attack that’s based on an anticipated threat. That kind of action is a lot harder to justify. We knew that if Iran was attacked—and we believe they would be attacked—that they would immediately come after us.
What specific action is the US bombing of Iran in retaliation for?

As Rubio said, there would be a lot more casualties if we weren’t preemptive. Plans were in the making so their ability to carry them out had to be destroyed as Rubio said for the world to be safer.

The current war with Iran is based on tactics, not some kind of weird quid pro quo where you're allowed to hit back once the other person hits you hard enough.
Szd, you really need to find something to do with your life besides come up with some kind of rubric of what exactly makes a certain level of state-sponsored violence acceptable. Instead of doing that, why not try to win souls for Christ? If you think violence is so bad... why not lead people to Jesus who have been engaging in that violence? Joining the IRGC in chanting "Death to America" will not accomplish anything.
And, incidentally, the IRGC really seems to believe they are on some God-given mission to defeat the Great Satan. That might be another example of people who would do best to lay down their arms and turn to following Christ instead. There aren't "good guys" here. There are just bad guys, worse guys, and the worst guys.

Biology lab next right?
Then ag science?
Is there any university level class that can’t be argued to support weapon development in someway?

I don't think any of us are in a position to evangelize the IRGC just now. But Iranian Christians -- and I've been hearing for several years that more people are coming to Christ in Iran than anywhere else -- could be. How about we join the war (the real one) on their side.JohnH wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2026 8:43 am Szd, you really need to find something to do with your life besides come up with some kind of rubric of what exactly makes a certain level of state-sponsored violence acceptable. So does Pete Hegseth.
So far, you don't seem to express much sympathy at all for the victims of war. You do seem to justify just about everything done to them. Why is that? Is it remotely possible that war crimes are not a good thing?
You seem to have much more concern for COs than for war victims or refugees.

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

This is a good lay out of why Iran is trying to build nuclear weapons.

I don’t know what is said as I don’t watch those sort of things on a personal or church level. Do they argue against the historical precedent for nukes getting your nation left alone?
