i have no idea about what was quoted. (not all of it.) it was a response soon following the initial invasion.
it surprised me, and he is much closer to the situation.

for decades in my life, i suppose i had what nett might describe as a boyscoutish view of the mainstream. eventually, so many lies, biases, manipulation revealed. i appreciate reading from real people on the ground in other countries. of course it’s not the word of God! neither are official media, or White House press releases. i think, it’s well to consider alternate views, to add to the overall mix.

in the last 20 years or so, it dawned on me, after living thru the Cold War, Vietnam days, and so much more, the U.S. has been far more damaged by poor policies coming out of Congress than ANY external entity. mainstream media assists. hollywood assists. the DOE assists. it’s a wonder there are any nonconforming opinions.

i can’t buy simplistic emotional stories that any are all good or all bad. i see that’s what sells. $$$$
Basically everything I believed about western benevolence has been found to be a lie, and I was duped into supporting death and destruction that I am now deeply sorrowful for.

It's not a good feeling to realize you supported policies like "bomb a little and see what happens"

i may be a bit softer than you, but, in general, agreed.
Congress is proven so incompetent+corrupt, as is media, WHY would anyone “just follow” them right into war??!!

i admit they present an inviting seductive picture. i see it. i understand how appealing it can be to young people.
i guess in my life i’ve just learned to shy away from pretty faces, pretty stories. too many “gotchas” out there.

but, Congress, really. the U.S. is hurting badly from their poor policies. one after another.
they spend-spend-spend, everything gets worse-worse-worse.

 Why is no one acknowledging this?
Does it make everyone feel good to make pompous statements about Russia's universal evil, while Zelenskyy could stop the bloodshed at any time? The fastest path to peace here is surrender.
i posted a short video about NB working as mediator on Page 41, and i just saw an article about his counsel.
i’m hoping for a better article, this one is not well written, seems to contradict itself.

i’m with you about hoping for quick resolution, i haven’t seen language that would use the word, “surrender.”
i believe agreement could be reached that would be acceptable to both parties - outside media is NOT interested, outside politicians want to milk disaster for as long as possible.

i believe Putin+Zelensky are working on it, privately. That means, we must wait. Media circus HATES that.

“Is there finally a glimmer of peace? Hopes rise of 'positive result' to talks between Russian and Ukraine within DAYS as Zelensky says he WILL talk to Putin and Moscow claims 'substantial progress' “

Russia and Ukraine claim there could be 'a positive result' to peace talks as the war entered its third week

Officials said it could be a matter of days for the two sides to find a peaceful solution to the war in Ukraine

Ukraine has made clear that while it is willing to negotiate it will not to surrender or accept ultimatums

Russian delegate Leonid Slutsky said the talks made substantial progress as more talks are set for tomorrow

Meanwhile, Ukrainian negotiator Mykhailo Podolyak said: 'Russia is already beginning to talk constructively' “

Evidently, globalists cringe. :-|

If not for mike, then nett, on this forum, would any of us have known there were any talks, at all??!
It’s a shameful reflection on mainstream media.

The geopolitics are quite something to juggle in one's mind. Zelensky is addressing a joint session of US Congress on Wednesday. Russia is asking China for military assistance. China is giving Russia a market for some of its products, but at bargain basement prices. I don't think China wants to damage its image on the world stage - Russia is currently a terrifying example of an economy being brutalized, and China has got to be watching that carefully. The US is aiding Ukraine but with clear limits due to fear of nuclear war. Hard to tell whether China would actually aid Russia militarily. The great powers actually need to get along each other in a lot of ways, and are treading cautiously.

I can't imagine how it will end.

Why does Russia deserve to have their economy brutalized, almost exclusively affecting the normal citizens (it's almost impossible to starve the military of a country that grows the majority of their own food), but the US does not deserve to be sanctioned for the war crimes we have committed, and continue to commit to this day?

I've seen a lot of support for the sanctions on this thread, and it doesn't seem very consistent.

Also referenced on Page 48:

.. When the second crisis hit in 1979-80, President Carter described combating it as the "moral equivalent of war,"
and many Americans feared that oil shocks would be a recurring nightmare. ..

I am not commenting on whether Russia deserves what it is getting, just like I try not comment on whether Ukraine deserves what it is getting. What is happening is all very bad and I pray it stops.

I don't see how else the West can respond to Russia's wanton invasion and destruction of their neighbor (and the death and humanitarian crisis that has followed). Direct military engagement with Russia and its nuclear arsenal is out - yet doing nothing while Russia invades would also be unacceptable. What do you think would be the appropriate response to Russian aggression?
