In context, though, that verse is talking about men having sex with temple prostitutes. If you read it out of context, you can apply it to anything from living a sedentary lifestyle to overeating to choosing not to wear nice clothes and makeup to honor the temple of the Holy Ghost like they did the Jewish temple.

A text without a context is only a pretext.
Yes, Bootstrap, you’ve touched on a very important topic. I’m not sure if anyone has written a post about it which is the misuse or decontextualization of a verse, leading to misinterpretations. Take, for example, the teaching on the cheerful giver, which is misused by so many wolves in sheep's clothing in churches that preach the false prosperity gospel; or Jesus's teaching about not judging the speck in another's eye without first seeing the log in one's own a passage so often abused by ultra-liberal churches to justify sin.

In the verse from Corinthians I cited, Paul refers to the body as the temple of the Holy Spirit because, in that era, prostitution was permitted in pagan society, and Paul condemned committing sexual immorality with prostitutes. I was not claiming that the verse specifically referred to vaping; rather, based on Paul's statement "Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit" I concluded that abstaining from vaping is the right choice, given that it involves a carcinogenic substance. I understand there is no direct mention of it, which may be why JhonH has faced criticism with some arguing that prohibiting vaping falls into the category of "legalism" even though we can certainly agree with him that promoting its use among minors is completely wrong.

As for gluttony and laziness, the Bible condemns them directly

9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? 10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
Proverbs 6:9-11

Since you mention sloth and gluttony, the first thing that came to mind was the Seven Deadly Sins a classification magnificently articulated by the Christian theologian Thomas Aquinas, who defined them as disordered habits that serve as the source from which many other sins arise.

Vaping doesn’t involve any more exposure to carcinogenic substances than eating a smoked sausage does.

Are smoked sausages more carcinogenic than smoking a Marlboro or a Camel?

I’ve read in various places that vaping and smoking carry the same risk of developing cancer.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7348661/

That is the reason why I oppose vaping; a few years ago, I thought vaping was similar to using a nebulizer

And saw no issue with an adult using it. If it really isn't any more harmful than drinking a soda or eating a sausage as you claim then banning it for adults does seem to me to fall into the category of legalism

Vaping isn’t anywhere close to conventional cigarette smoking. So far it has not been definitively linked to cancer at all.

There are other good reasons to expect someone with a Christian life not to choose to become addicted to substances, as it is not being sober minded.
