In light of the Fauci e-mails, do you trust him?

This article helps me understand what this thread is all about:
Trump and his allies try to rewrite, distort history of pandemic while casting Fauci as public enemy No. 1
Donald Trump and his Republican allies have spent the past few weeks trying to rewrite or distort the history of the pandemic, attempting with renewed vigor to villainize Anthony S. Fauci while lionizing the former president for what they portray as heroic foresight and underappreciated efforts to combat the deadly virus.

That certainly is their biased spin on it.
I listen to numerous customers at the very busy store that I'm a cashier at which is a drugstore, who felt like they didn't trust him from the beginning, some of it was just hunches. However read through his emails and I think you can understand where people are coming from. Personally I'm not in favor of our money going to Wuhan, communist China and the potential for a leak and bio warfare in a communist country is something that anyone should consider as a potential risk. By and large the most comments I heard through the months were that he was sending such mixed messages that it seemed like he was trying to keep people in confusion, Trump supporters or not because I couldn't tell I just got a lot of negative comments about him through the year.

Did you know that almost every administration has had to face some serious disease risk? Biden actually was the one who managed H1N1...

This may be the case.
If this is the case, then it’s no surprise.
My personal GP remarked to me many years ago that the world was overdue for another pandemic. So, no surprise.

The surprise was the vast politicizing of it. At all costs. For the singular purpose of unseating a sitting president.
This is a very dark place.

Every president must respond to whatever emergencies occur in his term. That’s the job description.

So, it would seem that this Current Event thread is viewed by Anabaptists in the same way that non-believers would consider this topic. Not sure this was the original intent of what this specific forum was to be used for. If we were discussing the need for a believer to be honest in every way, that might be different. I would think a more Anabaptist perspective would be Dr. Fauci needs our prayers not our criticisms.

We are also called to bring light to darkness. Being informed of how the powers around us use and misuse their positions does not compromise our faith. It is an exercise of it. Speaking the truth in love. Speaking what is good in building up of the body.

Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.
I think I am funnier than I really am.

Amen. Ephesians 5:11: have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

All things hidden must come to light. This affected the entire world and it could happen again and Christians need to know the right way to respond. I've said many times how I work with a public throughout this pandemic. The fear in a lot of the customers was terrible if someone got close to them they would stick their arm way out in front of him like back off I've never seen such fear in all my life because people were looking at each other as walking death threats to one another while they shopped. I saw verbal fight attacks between people before Mass were required, I saw people chew each other out. Getting to the source of this and finding out all the facts on this is essential and being a Christian doesn't mean we bury our head in the sand

OK, we're on page 7 of this thread. The title says that Fauci's emails show him to be dishonest, people keep claiming things about his email but don't seem to be able to point to specific emails and clear evidence for their claims. Instead of providing evidence or saying, "oops, I guess the evidence doesn't seem to be there", people are doubling down. That's a pretty clear indication that this is not about truth. Honesty is beholden to facts and is willing to take the time to produce them. Honesty is responsive to people who ask for the facts behind claims.

The danger is obvious - we don't want to be shouting "truth" and engaging in falsehood. That's not bringing light to darkness. That's repeating the current political talking points, serving political factions. They know how to make us feel, they are expert at that, and they are expert at making us feel like we're smarter than everyone else if we just believe the latest thing they feed us. In this case, people are trying to cancel Fauci, it has become clear who started this latest barrage. Does bringing light to darkness mean that we are the foot soldiers of this kind of thing, insisting accusations are true without presenting evidence, insisting that a Christian forum is the right place for this kind of trial to occur?

I don't think so. And I don't think turning political and scientific figures into our gods and satans is the kind of thing the Bible is calling us to. If there are any smoking guns in Fauci's emails, I haven't seen them yet, but they would certainly be investigated. The origins of the Wuhan virus are also being investigated. That kind of truth is about facts that will be known.
