Likewise, crimes that occur in parking garages and parking lots are car-related. No one enters a parking garage unless they are using a car or riding in one.
I disagree. Parking garages are entered with some frequency by people who are up to no good, but having nothing to do with auto travel. These may enter either for criminal reasons, or vandalism, or vagrancy.
Parking lots, are even let monitored. There is nothing to keep local vagrants and criminals out of parking lots. The local thugs causing problems in a parking lot have nothing to do with the safely of automobile travel.
Well that is no different from transit then is it? Criminals don't enter subway stations to innocently commute to work and then accidentally commit crime on the way there. They go there to commit crime.
If you are making a pedantic argument about my specific word use then fine. I will allow that criminals do enter and lurk in parking lots and parking garages with ill intent. That was my whole point. And they often use cars to do so. As in drive your to the parking garage and use it to commit crime, then use it again to escape. As in rapists who might drive a van into a parking garage and then use it to abduct women at gun point or knife point and force them into the vehicle to get raped and assaulted. And then drive away. The notion that criminals don't have the use of cars is nonsense. In fact a lot of homeless vagrants live in their cars.
Bottom line? When you choose a particular mode of transportation to get to work or run errands, the risk you are facing is for the entire trip door-to-door, not just that portion of the journey in which you are inside a moving vehicle.

As I pointed out earlier, the young North Carolinian lady was murdered inside a subway car, not waiting for one, not in a parking lot, or on a sidewalk.
Can you point to a stabbing of someone by a stranger inside their own private car?

In the past year alone there have been at least 10 people in my city who have been murdered in their cars. Cars themselves are deadly weapons. You don’t need a knife to kill someone in a car.

Typical liberal city. People going around murdering other people in their cars.

Vehicular homicide is a problem every where in the country. I’m sure it happens where you live too. Drunk drivers are everywhere.
You are just as dead if you die in a fiery car crash as you are if you get stabbed.

It's possible to make choices to avoid ending up in car crashes. Not using a car won't exempt you from someone attempting to (for example) run you over as a pedestrian, though.
It's also possible to avoid making choices to get stabbed on the subway, but one of those choices often is "don't go on the subway at all". There are other choices for one's safety that can be made, but perhaps are best not discussed here.

Thankfully there's never been a deadly car crash where I am living now. And no drunk drivers in sight.

In your whole county and region through which you travel by car on a regular basis?

Oh, well, if you want to extend the context to the whole of the country in which I live, then I would have to admit that vehicular homicide is a serious problem. According to one source, there's been at least ten people murdered in their cars within just the past twelve months.
