on MD, each one had an explanation of what it meant.
i don't see those here. i don't know what the new smilies represent.
so, i would be afraid to use them.
Just point to one with your mouse and a box will appear with the definition.
This may not work on iPads and other non-rodentized devices, but it does work on real computers.

A CAPTCHA would help (I recall MD not having one).
We use one. I added that to MD when I started helping. I still needed a way to filter out the spammers and automatic processes that could crack the captcha. This is why I started the second verification process. Since then we have had very few problems. A couple still get through, but many are caught.
I really miss the posts from Stoltz13, Knightlight, Truthseeker, and many others that were no longer active when I joined. Those will not be replaced. I hope new people fill the gap.
I miss the posts by the active posters as well, but I hope that they will continue to post here. I miss the wealth of knowledge and perspective and ideas that were on MD. Makes me sad to think it is all gone. I miss my thread about our new church. I miss the multitude of occasional posters.
I really hope some of the people who posted regularly right up until the outage, but who aren't posting now, come back. The longer the MennoDiscuss.com site is just a dead page with no information, the more folks we are going to lose...

It almost seems that some used it as a convenient place to bail out.
We need to get some good discussions revived, especially in history and Biblical exposition. It's good discussions that will bring people back.

Right. Hans has plenty of time to post and comment on Facebook - so I wonder why he hasn't taken a minute to set up the redirect? I don't think it's that difficult.

He tried doing it from the domain, but something did not work. He can set up an simple redirect page to run from the sight though. Would be a easy fix.
