Exactly. "If Trump did not exist and had said nothing, where would I look for reliable information?"

Similarly, when reading court proceedings or the results of investigations, "If this were about Sam Johnson rather than Trump, what would this tell me?"

It's an important skill to learn.

- “Very safe”
- Meeting the “gold standard”
- Approved by an “independent” FDA

Not very “independent” if you tell him to either approve the “vaccine” or resign.
The fact that 3 other agencies approved it, including the UK. and Canada gives me great confidence.

Moderna is up on Thursday. It is quite similar to AstraZeneca s vaccine.

Also interesting it that the UAE has approved the CanSino attenuated vaccine. Not quite as good as the others, but no slouch. It does not surprise me at all that they could do this, we taught them how.

I need to correct myself here. Moderna's vaccine is an M-rna vaccine. Almost like to the Pfizer.

The UAE mass vaccination program began today. My former hospital is not a participant.

As expected, the Moderna Mrna vaccine got a favorable report from the advisory committee. Such recommendations are almost always acted upon by the FDA. This is really good news, as it will increase the supply.

Dr. Fauci predicts that we should start statistically seeing the effects of the vaccine program on death and case rates by March, and that by April or May most in the US who want the vaccine will have access to it. Fauci has been pretty accurate with this predictions thus far - he was the first I heard claim that vaccines could be ready as early as the end of the year. His biggest concern is if a high percentage of Americans refuse to be vaccinated.

The majority of folks will go for the vaccine. There may be a good number who choose not do because of already having had the virus.

The 7-day averages of case and deaths numbers are still at record highs but are both flattening.

Hospitalizations still at record highs.

With two, or better three it would be more likely. Novavax and Johnson and Johnson will likely be next. Some here MIGHT have ethical issues with the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

AstraZenica? They seem to be MIA. I wish I knew the answer, did they REALLY botch that Phase three trial so badly? That problem appears not to be one center, but appears to have come from the top.

Too early to tell for sure - but it seems that infection rates on the whole might be peaking. Good news! Although that might only be temporary if Christmas travel and gathering adds fuel to the fire. Either way, hospitalizations and deaths will continue to rise through year's end...with the 7-day death average approaching 3,000 shortly after Christmas if current ratios hold.

It was reported today that 20 million first vaccines will have been administered by years end, with presumably double or triple that by the end of January. If that's the case, I think we will begin to statistically see the positive effects of the vaccine sooner than March since presumably the most vulnerable will get the vaccine first.

The NY Times reported today that media-watch organizations report that a significant increase in vaccine disinformation is occurring from many of the same sources of election disinformation and COVID disinformation. Many of these sources are struggling to find ways to maintain their audience and reach (and revenue & influence) with the election controversy wrapping up. The concern is that, in the long run, their falsehoods might result in people dying.

Anti-Vaxers have been a voice for much longer than the election presently stirring the pot.
I don't think it is a case to 'have an audience' but I understand why NY Times wants people to see it that way. There are many vehemently wary of vaccines & what's put in them for myriads of reasons.
By the way, Nancy Pelosi is one of them that was vehemently against any vaccine that would come out during the Trump administration so, just saying-

I think the focus was not so much the Anti-vaxx position, but the coordinated social-media proliferation of unsubstantiated or false information. Personally, I'm all for protecting the choices of people of conscience (and religious liberty) when it comes any vaccines. I honestly respect the right of informed citizens to object to specific vaccines, or vaccines in general (Soloist is a good example on MN of this type of informed decision-making). What I don't appreciate is the proliferation of falsified and misleading (and potentially harmful) information. People, right or left, deserve to be informed by the truth - and I fear that the COVID vaccine is going to become the new flashpoint for political propaganda - at great human cost.

Curiously enough, I have heard vaccine suspicious people admit they are more receptive to this vaccine because the President is behind it. That is a strange turn of events for someone who once was supportive of antivaxers. I won't be shocked if he returns to his earlier position once out of office and throws water on any Biden administration vaccination effort.
