When you start having to run the big vans for transportation, it's worth figuring out fuel consumption per passenger, and then you can potentially still compete with the Prius or Corolla for fuel economy. I'm in the position of still running a 15-passenger van for family transportation while our passenger count is dropping back off. At some point we'll get the chance to drop back to a minivan.JohnH wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2026 9:17 amSurprisingly, the Fords (including the SD) have generated the least amount of repairs.
The FSD gets better fuel economy than the Sienna, although we'll see if that changes with a full load of seats (all 3 benches) + a full load of people (admittedly such people are typically 40 lbs, not 240.)
What are the best and most practical cars?

The computation is much easier when "fuel consumption per vehicle" is still higher in the Sienna than in a gargantuan Ford van.mike wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2026 9:43 am When you start having to run the big vans for transportation, it's worth figuring out fuel consumption per passenger, and then you can potentially still compete with the Prius or Corolla for fuel economy. If we all drove mopeds, that would be more fuel efficient, but as much as my 5 year old wants to do that I would prefer not to.
