Easier to kill babies, harder to kill worms?

Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

One other potential reason for your dismal results: I think some Christians on the left don't want to acknowledge a moral inconsistency that might weaken the apparent integrity of the team they are rooting for.

Looking through the forum archives I saw one person stumping for Hillary and Obama; plainly saying he was going to vote for them; and then arguing against Republicans and for the Democrats like a lobbyist. Then claims neutrality when cornered about his promotion of the Democrats. The MN archives don’t lie and stand as testament. We pray for his conversion of heart away from the political games.
Actually, no. I did not encourage people to vote at all or to vote for anyone in particular. I only said who I was voting for when asked flat out because it was awkward to do otherwise, I do not stump for politicians. I consider both parties worldly and say so regularly.

You should read the archives fairly and carefully before invoking them as an authority.

There’s a big difference. Part of entering the kingdom of God is abandoning one’s allegiance to the political left.
I think a Christian should abandon allegiance to either political party. But if you are a loyal attack dog against one party, that looks a lot like loyalty to the other party.

To me, that's a good reason to let courts and elections sort out worldly matters. We aren't the experts. It's not our jurisdiction. I'd be happy to see people stop politically-minded attacks of all sorts on MN.

There certainly is the same problem on the right wing, with all kinds of attendant excuses why it’s somehow OK. Despite the right wing being ineffective at stopping the slaughter of millions.

imho, it’s too early to tell, but, certainly, CAREER politicians have not been effective in stopping the slaughter. these are the politicians who have not effectively resolved ANY problem at hand. they stay in office for decades doing very little, BOTH “sides” of the aisle. in my view, they are lying about being 2 parties.

speaking of “dismal,” Congress’ approval ratings have been dismal for years.
THEY EARNED THIS.

since obama+hillary drew the DNC party line in the sand, and, DJT appears to be observing it as a line, we will see how this will play out. will it make a difference? many are hopeful. there are signs of hope. but, it’s not a done deal. the abortion lobby is gigantic. they are not going to go peacefully.

i believe Dan has summed up the problem for this thread, and the problem for many Christians in general. the world is now heavily groomed to pick a side, and to be loyal to it to the death.

in this case, it’s literal death of innocents. it’s terribly uncomfortable.

ragpicker,
i apologize for my posts in this thread. you are not seeking my opinion!

I think I'll drop out of this thread now.

In general, I'd like to see if we can find better ways of focusing on talking about the subject. Probably too late for this thread.

Amen and amen. Political parties accomplish nothing except a retirement paycheck for their members.

The ISSUES are the focus. Supporting political parties divides our loyalties. We cannot serve God and mammon (or political parties to paraphrase the Bible).

At issue here is the blatant disregard for the lives of the innocent. I recall that post from Babylon Bee in which they said Babies in NY were now seeking to be declared convicted felons so they won't be executed. Tragic and too close to the heart to laugh.

“'It's not a baby':
Student says a baby born alive after a botched abortion should not receive medical care”

https://www.theblaze.com/news/its-not-a ... dical-care
During a recent event sponsored by Boston College's Pro-Life Club, a female student stood in front of a microphone and said a baby born alive during a botched abortion should not receive medical care — and, in fact, isn't a baby at all, LifeNews said. ..

.. 'They've already determined that it's not a baby' ..

"Because they're performing an abortion," the student responded. "So ... they've already determined that it's not a baby." ..

That is sad. I hope this is a view of a small minority.
