If he had actually lead an effective Federal response to the virus like many other developed countries have done, he'd likely be cruising to re-election right now. The popularity ratings of heads of state in countries that have effectively responded to the virus have shot WAY up. But that's water under the bridge now. His big strategy was to change the subject but catching Covid himself pretty much shot that one out of the water as well. I don't know what their campaign strategy is going to be for the last 4 weeks of the campaign. But the race seems to be solidifying and nothing in the news anymore seems to be pushing the polls one way or the other very much. People seem to have already made up their minds and are already voting as we write. There are also a LOT LOT less undecided voters this year than in 2016 if the polls are to be believed.Judas Maccabeus wrote:The only way he can win is to divide. What reports are you listening to Robert? Maybe your experience is different than mine, but "rampant fear" doesn't nearly define what I'm experiencing from those who are taking COVID-19 seriously. They are masking, distancing, limiting travel and business capacities, washing their hands...and going about their lives, wisely listening to their public health experts and doctors, respecting the disease that has suddenly become the third largest killer of Americans, and doing their best for the greater good.
Evidently, one person's fear is another person's prudence.

Unfortunately for Trump, I think he picked the wrong side on this one. The cavalier attitude of the White House towards this pandemic is wearing thin. Actually, picking a side at all was the wrong move for a president and just unnecessarily divisive. He should be leading, not following.

It's not over until it's over. But this doesn't feel like a tossup election any more. Like it did say in March.
