In 1870, France surrendered unconditionally to Prussia.

But wow, unconditional surrender is very rare. And this is a religious extremist government that thinks they are in an end times struggle with The Great Satan. I'm wondering what the military objectives are that will lead to this goal. Do they expect to do that without ground troops? Or quickly?
Yes, then we will put a puppet in charge. What could possibly go wrong there?

Anyone older than 70 should remember the Iranian revolution, are we dooming ourselves to repeat that?

The big ask. Other deals are likely possible.

When I saw that... to me it says quagmire or a very very long hot conflict... and that's even without factoring how both militaries are led by religious zealots: Iran's Islamists and our christian macho crusader, be-saved-by-dying-for-your-country, Sec of War, Pete Hegseth... (At National Prayer Breakfast, Hegseth Says US Soldiers Gain Salvation by Dying for ‘Christian Nation’)

Unless there's some kind of human or divine intervention, this is going to be long and dark and destructive to both of the actors involved; this will make the GOP/GWB instigated Iraq War look small...

A Confessing Church would acknowledge the inescapable realities of sin and injustice in every human institution, including every political party. It would wholeheartedly reject any suggestion that one party or movement is the party of God. Paul D Miller

I think it’s notable how Trump seemed to be able to whip the Europeans into supporting his war of aggression, while they seem to constantly struggle to get Trump to give more support for their war of defense.

Seems like they have capability to expend on Iran that they don’t have for Ukraine.

The further away from home a war is, the more palatable it becomes?War on your own borders is a commitment to continual future hostile relations and refugee flows. Long distance war is more like a video game, the real life consequences aren't prominent.

Because America had made it priority to protect their own, the freedom we all enjoy here, it seems it is going after those that wish to harm us here- a country that chants death to America & close to nuclear bombs, and the war on drugs (cartels) which IF that war makes it better for those w ho. Wish to flee their own country to come to America will appreciate their drug lords not affecting their own home lands -

When we invaded Iraq some of the troops showed pictures to the locals of the twin towers. They had no idea we were even at war or that someone attacked the towers. Some of these people literally just looked at us like the new party trying just like the Russians before. Yeah some likely chant things but the vast majority of these Muslims just want to live in peace.

That’s why the Iranians were protesting the evil regime- who has kept them from living “in peace” for 47 years and that is why Iranians around the world are celebrating and hopeful.
The fastest growing amount of Christian’s converts is in Iran. A very dangerous place to become a Christian so hopefully 🙏 will be answered to help them.

You should look into Iran before America started tampering with them through the CIA.

There was no such thing as “Iran” before Western involvement in the area.
