I have a better idea.
Why don't you come to Boston and visit Sattler for yourself?
We'd be glad to show you around our facilities, and even cover your plane fare. If you're interested, you could even give a pearl at Tea Time.
Our experience has been that when people come and see for themselves, they discover that they have had some misconceptions about us. I'd love to make it work.

Or, you could come to our Open House. Here's the link. Hope to see you.
https://events.sattler.edu/event/sattler.events.350134
So that's a no then?
Invitation is still open.

Sattler College does not own laboratory facilities, nor does it pretend to.

Our students are able to use lab facilities at several colleges in Boston.
The fact that we don't own the facilities doesn't keep our students from getting an education that prepares them for amazing careers that have included grad school, med school, PA school, and jobs at laboratories within Boston. We've had students who participated in research studies and even been named in peer-reviewed journal articles.

The fact remains that Sattler is making it possible for students to receive a world-class education for a fraction of the cost of many other colleges.

Once again, I invite you to come to Sattler and see for yourself.
So then it is really other colleges in the Boston area that are preparing your students for grad school, med school, and careers in laboratories and research?

That's a significant change from the last time I looked, and appears to be a very positive development. Thanks for letting us know.

brothereicher,

Does Sattler still encourage students to believe that full immersion baptism is required for salvation, or have they stopped doing that?

Of course, the presence of evangelicals means Sattler will begin to shift to not being an Anabaptist college, rather reminiscent of what happened at other Anabaptist colleges that were founded with claims they would retain a solidly conservative Anabaptist footing, like EMC/U, and which now are anything but.

Seems to me it has always been a non-Anabaptist college with a sizable Anabaptist constituency and an Evangelical presence. If anything, the addition of more Anabaptist board members seems to signal a shift toward Anabaptism rather than away from it.

That could be true, but it was certainly marketed as if it were a safely conservative Anabaptist college and conservative Anabaptists should feel comfortable sending their children there.

Sattler has also announced a slate of board members from a variety of constituencies and backgrounds, including evangelicals, Anabaptists, and German Baptists.

It's fine if you dislike the Sattler project. Not everyone likes everything. But at least please be informed about it.

Oh, and as far as I've been able to tell in my year of working here, we're not strapped for cash.

As far as cost of attendance is concerned, all students receive a grant toward the sticker price of tuition. The most any student pays for tuition, room and board is around $20000, which is less than most people are paying to live in Boston.

Most students are paying between $15000-18000 per year, with some paying as little as ~$12000, which only covers room and board.

Oh, one last thing, as to student loans.

Sattler has recently started offering students loans of up to $5000 per year interest free, with a single annual administration fee of several hundred dollars. The loans are to be repaid within two years of graduation, or other arrangements made.
Can you link to this announcement? I don't believe I have seen it.

Yet the conservatives from intermediate level never went. It was always the moderate or charity circles I heard any movement towards it. Dean Taylor had comforted people and his leaving likely caused considerable concern,

A press release or statement from Sattler about why Dean Taylor left would certainly help, but they've communicated basically nothing about the rather significant changes in their leadership.

I can't find a link to the announcement (we've updated the Board Members on the site, but I don't know if there's been a specific post about it anyplace.)

I'll copy the text of the email that was sent to our entire community.

Sent June 26 to all students, staff, and faculty:

"Dear Sattler Community,

I hope this email finds you well and enjoying the summer months.

As you may know, we announced on May 30th that we would be adding new trustees to the Sattler College Board of Trustees. I am pleased to announce the addition of seven new trustees! The board could explore adding additional members if other candidates accept the position at a later date.

The new trustees are:

James Brubacher (Canada)
Peter Corniea (Minnesota)
Caleb Jenkins (California)
Mark Milioni (Michigan)
Myron Miller (Kansas)
Tim Miller (Ohio)
Kristen Buxton (Kentucky)

I am confident that these new trustees will be valuable assets and their contributions will be invaluable as we continue to grow and mature.

I will be providing more information about the new trustees in the coming weeks, including biographies and photos. In the meantime, I want to thank you for your continued support of Sattler College.

Sincerely,

Zack Johnson on behalf of the Board of Trustees"

Sent August 22 to the same group:

"Dear Sattler Community,

I am looking forward to starting the academic year on Monday!
Sattler.edu has been updated with the Board of Trustees pictures and bios.
A motion passed today with unanimous approval from the board to approve Mark Milioni as the new board chair (he will prayerfully be joining us from Michigan for convocation on Monday)
The board will have it's first in person meeting in Boston on September 16
The process for selecting a the new chair is enumerated below:
Each new Board member was interviewed by John Curtis (Special Assistant to the President & Board of Trustees) and asked of their willingness to serve as the new Board Chair
Each trustee showed interest and responded with a maybe or “let me think about it”
A deliberation period followed for each Board member to consider the pros and cons
Some Board members opted out due to their time commitments elsewhere or lack of experience in Board governance
A small subset of Board members showed a continued interest in filling the role
A vetting process ensued to consider the individual who might best reflect the next stage of growth for the Board and the College
A single candidate emerged as the best choice for the Chair role
The Board unanimously voted to approve a motion for Mark to become the next chair
I am filled with hope for the years to come for Sattler and our growing community. If you happen to see Mr. Milioni please thank him for volunteering his time and energy to take on the chair role. If you happen to see Dr. Kuruvilla, please thank him for his years of service in the chair role. I am filled with gratitude for the labor of the past and the hope for the future."

I mispoke a little bit upthread. A board announcement went to the Sattler community in June, but there are several new board members who were named in an email that went out in July to all staff and faculty, which is where I got the July date, but it wasn't sent to students so I'd prefer not to post it here.

I hope you find this helpful.
