Bercot's analysis of George Washington's faith casts some doubt on this, even if the definition of a "practicing Christian" is stretched to the limits of elasticity. Recent examples are no better, not to mention most of the ones in between.
Yes, a goodly number of the founders were actually Deist.
We aren't talking about 1776. We are talking about 2021. I'm not one to challenge anyone's faith. Most of the Senate and all of the Supreme Court self-identify as either Christian or Jewish. Do you have some magic "Christian Detector" you can wave in front of people to tell if they are lying or not? How do you judge? Why would someone lie about being Christian if they are such a persecuted and downtrodden minority with less rights than others?

Lindsey Graham is a good case in point. He is the Senator from South Carolina and big Trump supporter. Also a self-identified Southern Baptist who likes to do photo ops in Baptist churches when back home in South Carolina. There are also longstanding rumors that he is gay. Do you honestly think he would advantage his political career in South Carolina if he renounced Christianity and came out publicly as gay? Because gays are more privileged than Christians in this society? If so I have a bridge to sell you.
So unmarried = gay

That time in Texas really did get to you if you absorbed ideas like that.

No, there are lots of rumors about gay male prostitutes if you have to know. Some who have been posting on social media. Google is your friend. I won't link to that stuff here. Whether or not he is actually gay is of no concern of mine. I'm just making the point that he gains more "privilege" as a Baptist politician in South Carolina than he ever would as a gay politician in South Carolina. And you know that is true.

When you claim that the presidency "has been held by a practicing Christian since the beginning of the Republic" it sure seems like are talking about both 1789 and 2021.

It's usually done without the visual theatrics, but if they don't follow the teachings of Jesus as recorded in the New Testament, I'm not convinced they are a Christian. Even if they are without question a Southern Baptist.

Could you post the Zillow link to that bridge?
Here is a list of the religious affiliations of every president of the US. I'll make it easy and limit it to just the 20th and 21st Centuries. So from William McKinley to Joe Biden. You can tell us which ones were Christians and which were not

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious ... ted_States

And PS, the bridge is if you honestly believe that being that gay would provide more "privilege" and advantage to a Senator from South Carolina than being Southern Baptist.

If Graham came out as gay it would absolutely boost his political career. The Republican Party openly accepts such things - goodness, they’re happy to have Bruce Jenner run for governor as Caitlin Jenner.

Career politicians at work. 1 party masquerading as 2 for political theater. The audience eats it up.

I was responding to the comment about George Washington.

He might not get re-elected in South Carolina, but there's certainly thousands of churches which would accept him as gay. About half of the Episcopals, many liberal megachurches, and liberal versions of various other denominations. I replied to your post compairing gay nightclubs to churches with a simular statement, but it seems to have dissappeared. Perhaps my mention of fertilizer caused it to happen?

It wouldn't be true in districts with large cities like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or even New Orleans or Atlanta.

I've been saying that for years. They certainly work hand-in-hand to keep any alternative parties out of the debates, and do everything they can to marginalize them.

If by "Christian" you mean not atheist, jewish, muslim, buddhist, or hindu -- all of them, though some might quibble about Obama.

If by "Christian" you mean a follower of Jesus -- in my lifetime, possibly Carter.

What do you think it means to be a Christian?

So you think you are God and can judge who a Christian is? You feel qualified to judge them? They all said they were Christian.
