Interesting how the granted special privileges to lawyers that it didn’t grant to priests, isn’t it?

most definitely.

all of this was known+reported when this nonsense “look at me” politics started in June.
anything for politics.

i presume that’s why it’s been so quickly resolved.

This statement is NIOT related to my being Catholic.

Everyone who wrote that bill and then passed it out to be impeached. Not for attacks on religion.
For being incompetent. The law was so obviously unconstitutional it demonstrates they are at best publicity seekers, at worse incompetent. They take an oath to uphold the federal and state constitutions and then so blatantly ignore them.
It would be almost as absurd as trying to pass a bill to relegalize slavery.

A complete waste of taxpayer money and time. And they wonder why some of us have such low regard for politicians

And yet look at how many defenders of that bill came out of the woodwork. It shows you that their actual religion and god is The State, and they expect all other religions to be subservient to it: something you are allowed to practice at home in private, but not allowed to bring into the public square.

i wish i could believe it’s incompetence, even ignorance.
worse, this tactic has become normal+expected. it’s dependent on ignorance of The People. it works. it’s profitable.
schools of human law teach it. they’re well educated, no mistake about it.

The People are complicit in trusting too much.
Politicians+lawyers have been scrutinized since ancient times. They earn scrutiny.

They have a high rate of success (at destruction). This time, slowed down.

Not to overlook,
these weasels do this, and more, without ever facing consequences. It’s just another payday, “win some, lose some”.
Repeating, ANY airtime is to their benefit, it’s exposure; as well, whatever numbers can be strengthened or won over in the process.

Thankfully, scriptures warn about the need for vigilance.
i’m so grateful. If expectations were this world is to be a picnic, i’m not sure i could manage.

:) click for “Soul Man”
chicago_history WROTE:
Back in 1982, the future Pope Leo XIV was a devoted fan of The Blues Brothers (1980).
While studying in seminary during the early ’80s, he once dressed as one of the Blues Brothers, wearing the signature fedora and dark sunglasses. The film’s memorable line, “We’re on a mission from God,” reportedly held personal meaning for him as he prepared for the priesthood. He also appreciated that the movie was set in Chicago.
1980. you had to be there.

I actually saw the Blues Brothers in concert,
Did you know they took the “act” so far as to actually tour a bit?

Where are you Father Sarducci

As churches have a long history of covering up abuse and the abuse has hurt many people, I can respect the bill's authors as being well-intentioned. I think they were mistaken; confession can and should lead to repentance, a real change.

Generally, legislators aren't impeached but voted out of office or sometimes expelled by a legislature.

i’ve long-thought, one of the most endearing things the world enjoys about “Americans” is inexplicable (even trademark) humor.
it’s a gift. it opens doors. it disarms.

That jawline.
My son has a beautiful jawline like that. i tell him, ‘cause otherwise, he would have never noticed.
So handsome.

i appreciate how Pope Leo responded to the question of visiting Lebanon:

“Well, we’re going.”

political.pen WROTE:
Do you remember the statement made by the wife of the Jordanian king, Queen Rania, who asked Pope Leo XIV at the time:

“Do you think it’s safe to go to Lebanon ?”
He replied firmly, confirming his determination to go on the trip, “Well, we’re going.”

And today, the Pope is in Lebanon, staying until Tuesday.
