I have heard, that Pilgrim had a "deal" with Eastern where they agreed not to accept wholesale intact Eastern congregations. So the Hope congregations had to strike off on their own.
In the past, Hope people did in fact frequent Pilgrim Bible School. However, Hope has since started their own bible school. I'm assuming most of them prolly use their own.
It's been a while since I frequented those circles. Things might have changed...
It probably still happens. Our Hope youth go to Mid-Atlantic and other Bible schools as well, in addition to our own. For some reason, ours is seen as a Bible school for the younger set, and by the time you are 20 or so, you're too old for it, so you go to some other Bible school if you want to go.
I guess if you can't find a spouse three years running it's time to broaden out the horizons. 8-)

Thanks for sharing your primary purpose of attending Bible school.
I attended PBS as an 18 year old and was one of the youngest there.
The following year I was one of the oldest.

Years later I attended FB for winter term. Highly recommend, particularly for older students.

I always accused people of going to Bible school for that reason, so it's good to have that confirmed. LOL

Hope was established over 10 years before Pilgrim, so the question might be backwards.
I've heard of similar "deals" such as the one Keystone had with LMC, that after their formation as a separate entity they would not accept any more former LMC congregations. That led to some of those who didn't initially join Keystone now being part of BMA.

Farther back, there was one that Lancaster would not have any churches in Washington-Franklin territory. My uncle unintentionally torpedoed that one, first by transferring his credentials to LMC so he could be involved in their mission work in DC (commuting from his home next door to the Washington Co. bishop!), and later by pastoring a mission church in Washington Co. that came under the leadership of EMBMC (now EMM) and LMC since W-F wanted nothing to do with it. I had to consult Edsel's encyclopedia to brush up on the details of that one.

Regarding the EASTERN Bishop mental wandering I started.

Yes, it was Aaron Shank that wa sone of the starting five that went with Pilgrim from the old Lebanon district in Eastern.
And yes, I forgot Simon who had passed before I joined Eastern

Things rattle around in there…appreciate the corrections.
