I don't think Christians have an obligation to make donations to political organisations that attempt to increase the amount of refugees entering the U.S., including engaging in lobbying activity. In fact, I'd argue Christians have an obligation not to do so.
If you want to move and go help people you meet in person, go right ahead. If I lived in a border town, I'd do the same.
