As a Bible Study" please share expectation of women's participation, thanks!

(P.S. having been "in" Baptist congregations, Evangelical denominations, visiting Anabaptist, member of Pentecost/Charismatic 20 yrs & discovering Eastern Orthodox no matter all this exposure, since I've got had my Orthodox Study Bible it's hard for me to accept any interpretations other than Orthodox. Kind of my "filter" so to speak- is that a problem??
hmm. maybe he’ll use his Catholic Bible. NRSV-CE?
Orthodox & Catholic Bibles much more similar vs Protestant Bibles, I would also think they would have the same ancient interpretations. Anabaptists, at least the Amish, do have some of the OT apocrophe books, but i doubt he's "going there" however some of these discarded books explain some things perplexing in NT.

Many of us are open to the so called apocryphal books.

So we are having a Bible study run by a Catholic, filtering with an Orthodox study Bible, on a Mennonite forum. Got it. Sounds jolly, let’s get started.

It should be open game. Open to any registered user. My opinion, though 8-)

Haha I for one have no issue with women participating, and even if I did I don't see how that would be applicable on an open internet forum.

Similar with interpretations. Obviously everyone is going to have their own take. I would say feel free to put forward the arguments for yours/the Orthodox one, but don't expect that everyone will reach agreement.

(To me) it seems each topic has 3 parts:
1. What the OP wants, imagines, hopes for;
2. What admin/mods allow;
3. What present+active members do in response.

#3 can morph over time. “Time” can be measured in pages+years.
This can morph #1+2.

Early on, to paraphrase, Robert encouraged attempts to stay on topic “in the first pages” with “loosening” of focus less of a problem as threads become lengthy. Many threads are not lengthy at all. Some topics are “open” from the OP.

Having said that. :)
Bible studies, prayer threads (some others) are more successfully focused.
Esp when the OP guides with consistency.

i’m with justme. jto seems capable of leading a worthwhile forum study. :)

Regarding Valerie’s question about women, i agree, this forum is not a church. i’m ambivalent about an OP thread restriction, i would not question it, i’m not sure about admin/mods. Usernames are not always clearly male/female. Some topics have been directed to one or the other. It happens.

Well, when you put it that way :) ...

As far as the translation, I was expecting everyone would use whatever translation they are most comfortable with. I personally use the ESV (Catholic edition of course :)) for a lot of personal reading. But for study I like to look at different translations. And if anyone knows Greek that would be great.

Can we agree that the Bible was interpreted before the Reformation?
That being said once the Reformation happened interpretations went all over the place and who could say which one is the right one?
My understanding that the Anabaptist and other Protestant denominations may not take issue with the interpretations of the ancient Church. It is more that they struggle with what is taught outside of Holy Scripture that they consider tradition of the Church.
Would that be a correct understanding?

Maybe start another thread if you want to discuss this?
