Prayers for temps not to get quite as hot as predicted. Prayers for everyone coping with it.
Prayers huge forest fires don’t follow.

It must be summer.
it’s been HOT near seattle. not much is air conditioned.
higher humidity than So Cal, not as high as Illinois.

my family’s church is thrifty with AC, but offered it as a cooling center for a couple of days.
high temps were down to only 90F today. :P lots of activities cancelled or hours shortened.

I will say that I transferred to JH from another large hospital system when I had a scan not go well. I was told that my cancer had returned. I went for a second opinion. So, my experience at JH has not been a return of disease, but, when I went I did not know that. I will also admit that I am a highly anxious person when it comes to this and I really struggle having to go in alone. I'm at a spot in my care now where I am under watch, but still cancer free.

So, I have not had to necessarily go through the hard part on my own, that happened before Covid. That is a true blessing.

I also struggle immensely watching others struggle and that is what happened at my last appointment with the elderly woman, who clearly needed someone with her.

I stay at JH for the "just in case scenario." I appreciate you asking. I am hoping by fall, when I go in for my next scan, that perhaps my husband can come along, but looking at the news, I don't expect he will be able to.

I don't know if my doctor practices at the main hospital, perhaps I should find out. I know only a few specific places preform the type of scan that I need, but it would really surprise me if the main hospital does not. If this continues, perhaps I will need to find out. I am really glad that you shared that with me by the way...one would think that the policy would be hospital wide. I wonder why it is not? If the main hospital is more relaxed, I will need to seriously consider going there instead.

My doctor also can no longer do telehealth...it has something to do with state licenses or something....
violet,
just wanted to let you know prayers are being said for you and your loved ones .. you may never know who/how many. :)
if i recall, you first shared about this diagnosis about a year ago? ..

A man from my mom's church who's been a father figure to two of my younger brothers is in the ICU with COVID-19. The doctor had thought the worst was over but he started having breathing difficulties and they considered putting him on a ventilator yesterday but put him on CPAP instead. Today he's being put on a ventilator and moved to a bigger hospital. Please pray for him, his wife, and my brothers.

I have a very specific prayer request this morning. I want my brothers and sisters to pray simply that Gus, my surgeon, will be successful in placing a stent in my liver tomorrow.

My bile duct is blocked which is throwing my liver out of whack. It’s likely that it’s blocked by a swollen lymph node which is making this surgery difficult for Gus. My “new” chemo regimen (adding back the Oxaliplatin) has had great success in reducing this lymph swelling, but they can’t give me chemo until my liver is back in shape - a catch 22.

I’m in the hospital for a few days to deal with this liver issue. I should have reported the first signs of this last week but I’m not accustomed to complaining about my health. “Enough of this Stoicism!” says my NP.

If Gus can’t get the stent in they will put in a drain. It’s not the worst thing they could be draining from my body! I’ve been studying the details of the problem and procedure - I was complimented on my knowledge. The internet is wonderful for gathering facts if one uses it appropriately.

I’m not especially bothered by this turn of events, though it has spoiled a 2 day camping trip to the far Northeastern tip of Maine and thrown my Chemo schedule off. The family trip to Iceland was already cancelled. My wife, Betty, would always say to the children “Flexibility! Flexibility is a good thing”. So we are flexible. We might just drive up and grab a night at a B&B. Flexibility got us a nice camp site and boat slip last week up in the western Mountains.

God is being good to us. I have no complaints (except maybe a clear liquid diet!)

We have the house in PA and have spent some time there. Most of our worldly possessions are packed up and stuffed in the garage there (Oh! The unpacking in October!). Our Maine home was pretty much emptied for the sale so we are living there like it’s a vacation place right now. We’re not in a hurry to stop enjoying our beloved mountains, lakes and coastline.
