It's been a minute since we heard from him, eh?

Knight may be middle aged by the time he stops in again.
If i recall, he went missing in the early pandemic days. :-| Knight ghosted us. :P

Meanwhile .. i just found an ancestry link to the Stewarts of Scotland, including a Templar Knight. My father’s mother’s side.

“I think it is funny”,
Scotland shows up in my DNA, but i didn’t see anything-much in names/records until a few days ago. No family stories.
If FAMILY SEARCH is correct, there are records going back to 900’s France (that result in the Stewarts of Scotland).
(French form is Stuart.)

POLL: BAGPIPES
viewtopic.php?t=6909
i feel so torn. my father loathed bagpipes. turns out, Scotland is primary DNA. thru dad. sorry, dad. :-|
he didn’t like their reputation for “clannishness.” :-|

i enjoy a little bagpipes now+then. a little goes a long way.

it seems, the German guff my father took in his life was unfounded.
it’s going to take me awhile to “adjust my sails.” much of my extended family will never get it, i don’t believe.
my poor mother getting flack for marrying a German.

“Today” .. :P
i learned about MACULAR HOLES and will have repair surgery on my right eye. outpatient.
yes, i’ve been worried. no, i told no one.

i was thankful to learn this is a freak thing “that happens” but is not related to diabetes, medications, it’s not macular degeneration. no talk of driving restrictions. expectations are very good.

Friday .. foot check. i’m hopeful. :)

Both doctors, WA and IL, warned JONES FRACTURES are slow to heal, and many do not heal.

Vitrectomy Surgery for Macular Holes / 33sec

Done. Post-op appointment today was positive.
Now to heal. It takes time. i won’t be able to get prescription glasses until Jan or Feb.
This is more difficult than cataract surgery - in both eyes!

i hope i can stay out of med trouble for awhile now. :)

i was supposed to be lightly sedated, awake, throughout my eye surgery.
i was told, i went out like a light.
i guess i’ll never know what happened.

2024 - more medical coming up. :)

December 11: Angiogram
From what i’ve been told, this video is probably a good representation.

Angiogram & angioplasty: what to expect / 6min
Description:
Step-by-step video showing what happens during an angiogram and angioplasty procedure. An angiogram is a test that uses x-rays to look for narrowing or blockages in coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart. An angioplasty is a procedure that widens the blocked artery.
i might need a stent(s) unlikely to need open heart surgery. They don’t know before going in.
The video patient has angina (pain) i don’t. i’m not in pain. my endurance is ‘way down.

This has been quite a year. Broken foot in March, eye surgery in September, next up, angiogram. All unrelated.

i’m not looking forward to the procedure. i’m looking forward to feeling more myself after!

i guess i should tell them about my over-response to “light anesthesia” in September. :)

EKG done. Bloodwork done.
They’ll call me about the schedule tomorrow, procedure Wednesday. i hope not early.

My daughter in law will be with me tomorrow night and 24 hours after. (5 hr drive from Michigan.)
We’re watching weather, road conditions. We’ll stay in a room near the hospital for a couple of days.
i live too far from things if there’s a complication. No complications expected.

i’m nervous.

doing this mid-winter is counting on a lot of variables. so far, so good.

i’m looking forward to being past it.
