It is no surprise that when you spread wild allegations based on gossipy third party information there will have to be corrections and retractions. It is one thing to share verified first-hand information and another to publish juicy nonsense that verifies pre-existing biases. Trudy's original post on the now-retracted story that a group of leaders had met about what to do with her also included these allegations that "victims" were beaten and whipped under the advice of Mose Stoltzfus. To me stuff like this is just garbage. It set off my BS detector when I first read it. It tarnishes the authenticity of true, first-hand victim accounts and actual situations of abuse that are worth considering, and it makes me understand why there are sincere people also working with sexual abuse victims who find it difficult to work with Trudy.

Nobody else beside Trudy confronted CAM about the Mast situation, and nobody else confronted the Herr situation either.

Waiting around and being silent isn’t an option. Incidentally, if people don’t want Trudy spreading rumours - then be open and honest about what you are doing, and stop having secret meetings.

The choice between posting unverified gossip and being completely silent is a false dichotomy. I don't mind the work that she does on behalf of victims, and it is clear that many victims are finding her advocacy helpful to them. I am only commenting on the inclusion of unverified third-party gossip along with valid first-hand accounts and verified information. This is clearly unhelpful to Trudy's own stated goals.

I find it so sad that even in her death, people are attempting to besmirch Anna Mary Herr, by making false claims she committed suicide. This is a disgusting attempt to still paint her as "crazy". Trudy is right, Anna Mary Herr's manner of death (which was a stroke) has nothing to do with the sexual allegations against Harold Herr. I don't always agree with Trudy's tactics, but she was right about Jeriah Mast and I am of the opinion she is right about Harold Herr, as well.

I don't always agree with Trudy's tactics, but she was right about Jeriah Mast and I am of the opinion she is right about Harold Herr, as well.

I as well don't always agree with her delivery tactics, but she is doing what should have been done long ago... pushing aside all the cover-stories and half-truths and exposing facts.

The truth is what actually happened: Not what you wish it was and not what you want others to believe.

In this article Daniel Herr is reported to say, "The stigma of the times kept his mother from getting help. She ended her own life." Maybe this is causing the confusion. Perhaps the Herr family can clarify.

In this article Daniel Herr is reported to say, "The stigma of the times kept his mother from getting help. She ended her own life." Maybe this is causing the confusion. Perhaps the Herr family can clarify.

The most obvious explanation is that Harold Herr persuaded all his children their mother had schizophrenia and later committed suicide. (Schizophrenics aren’t typically suicidal, by the way.)

I have said nothing at all about replacing Trudy. However, she is not the only sexual abuse victims advocate in the world. Just because other people and organizations are not publishing details about their work on the Internet does not mean it is not happening.
