I actually am from there and lived there after 1990. You may want to get more reliable sources than a Google search.

The biggest spike in crime is property crime and burglaries but unfortunately home invasions have gone up (mostly since Covid). Criminals are well armed including organised crime. The citizenry is completely defenceless.

I’d like you to explain to me how you plan to have no guns in the entire country of America. And once everyone is disarmed, what do we do when a violent sociopath is on the loose?
After awhile there won't be an America. It will be superseded by the KOG.

Yet for my lifetime, God decided to send me to the Kingdom of Charles II and the republic of the USA. So here I am.

The Bible says God appointed the magistrate who does not bear the sword in vain. Thus, it seems that swords, staves, guns, and other weapons are indeed appointed by God as part of the magistrate.

And for everyone else who isn't a magistrate appointed by God we have Matthew 26:

"Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword."

Wrong. That was what Jesus told his disciples.

I don’t hold people who aren’t in my church to my own church’s rules. We have rules against guns and against cigarettes. I don’t expect my neighbour to not have guns, nor do I go tell her to stop smoking.

But of course you demand state adherence to Biblical principles. At least on every topic not involving your precious AR15s.

Abortion, gay marriage, capital punishment, transgender rights, etc. etc. You are very quick to demand the state adhere to your notions of Biblical teachings. Even when the connection is tortuous and Byzantine.

And the notion that swords, staves, guns, and other weapons are "appointed by God" is frankly grotesque. It is the magistrate who is appointed by God in the verse you cite from Romans. Not the weapons.

In the OT, the Godhead was present in the demand to kill with wrapons. I realize that it's a hard concept to understand but he is God and Jesus as a pre-incarnate son was there through the entire Old testament when God sent his people to war. And he will come back as pointed out in Revelation as the warrior with His army.
Difficult perhaps to reconcile bit nonetheless from God's Holy Scripture.

There are many Christians for the 2nd amendment but at the same time against the assault weapons as used in the school shootings, yet are not naive to believe that you take away those weapons and the evil will go away when someone is determined to kill the innocent.

There is no biblical imperative not to have weapons. Zero. None. The commandment to Christians is not to kill in general - but Jesus told his disciples to buy and carry swords.

Likewise, in the OT, the Israelites were oppressed when those who ruled over them didn’t allow them to have weapons. They did this to them so they couldn’t defend themselves.

Gun control is not a principle we see in scriptures. Nonetheless, Ken, I belong to a church that asks us as members not to have military styled weapons or handguns. Do you?

Hold your horses.
Christians are NOT the only faith group, or non-faith moral group/individuals, to abide by moral standards. That’s a popular lie.

Christians are, by nature and definition, the EASY TARGET. Cowards are known go after soft targets.
Christians are the softest targets of all, thus all the brouhaha. Noisy popular cheap lies.

Christians are so soft, they regularly suffer aplenty for their own convictions.

Just because it’s said, over+over+over, doesn’t make it true.

Jesus offers do-overs. Repent and begin again.
