Who speaks for the black community?

Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

If the way GaryK is living out Kingdom principles is promoting what seems to JoshG as racism, then there is a problem.
A problem as in, it will stand in the way of hearing each other and cause you to speak past each other.

Gary, I would lean on the vast vast majority of our black brothers and sisters in Christ to inform my understanding of the primary causes of the challenges faced by the black community.
So are you going to get up from your computer, go out personally among every single African American community in America and Canada; gather up their opinions honestly and without interpretation and record that data? Then have it checked and rechecked for researcher bias? Or are you just going to continue to preach at everyone by regurgitating the viewpoints of your favorite news sources and authors?

The first method will take roughly ten years if you do it correctly in order to get the face to face opinions.

The second is no better than what the mass media is trying to tell us to think and just makes you their pawn. We are called to imitate Jesus. What would Jesus do?

The problem that others here are trying to share with you is that data can be biased depending on who is doing the collection and the interpretation. Again the question stands: are you going to get up from your computer, go out personally among every single African American community in America and Canada; gather up their opinions honestly and without interpretation and record that data? Then have it checked and rechecked for researcher bias? Or are you just going to continue to preach at everyone by regurgitating the viewpoints of your favorite news sources and authors? We just finished traveling full time in an RV for 12 years. Are you willing to make a commitment to meet people, interact with them and form long term relationships with them as we have done? Are you willing to put aside what your favorite media wants you to think and instead, study the Bible and courageously live the discipleship life of prayer, work and accountability? Are you willing to get off the computer and spend real time in real ministry in the streets?
joshuabgood wrote: Are you prepared to tell them all that they are wrong and that you know better than they do what they experience? If so, that seems arrogant to me. That is all.
This is the problem in trying to talk with you JBG. You are making brash accusations and assumptions about others if they don’t agree with or question the veracity of your favorite media sources. That is the very definition of arrogance. You have been told this repeatedly on this forum. I’m not telling anybody they are right or wrong. I am advocating honest interaction with real people in real time to understand their priorities and concerns.

That term is not always used correctly, Joy. The proper definition and usage are:
(adverb) according to rightful entitlement or claim; by right

(adjective) denoting something or someone that is rightfully such

Then just say that without then continuing to push mass media talking points. As many have said in this thread and in others, you take a very arrogant tone in pushing your favorite talking points.

Max...why do you feel like I made an assumption when I just ask a question if that was a position you held?

Because that is how you have been treating people throughout these threads. The fact that you had to come off the podium and simply say to Gary that you aren't accusing him of racism is quite revealing. All your talking points come across as both arrogant and assumptive as others have repeatedly told you.

I am sorry I made you feel this way. Can you share more about how asking a question felt arrogant and assumptive?

And can you please point to assumptions I made about people.

It's the content of your questions, JBG. You bait people instead of challenging them.
