"Parents" who hire surrogate try to force her to get an abortion.

Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

I used to live in Montreal. My coworkers just drove down to Vermont to get healthcare.

1) my daughter+family lived+worked in Montreal for 2 years with a newborn to 2 year old.
2) the baby suffered painful chronic ear infections, was put on antibiotics - for 2 years!
3) after 2 years, they moved for work to Dallas, pediatricians immediately put tubes in her ears and removed adenoids.
problems mitigated.
4) reports are, Canadians who can afford it come to the U.S. for healthcare?

i once had a black cab driver who enthusiastically extolled the utter marvels of Canada’s heathcare.
i encouraged him to keep studying.

Bankruptcy hasn’t been the life’s horror it once was. Not the EOTW.
For many, a fresh start.
There are different types of bankruptcies, used for different purposes.

I was just in a Canadian hospital. I would say the care was as good as any in the US. It would have also cost 10X as much.

The largest problem is long waits for specialist care.......that happens in the US as well. Been to Florida lately? I am now visiting my brother who seems to be unable to access such care. Ever hear of Medicare Advantage?

I'm glad it worked out for you. My wife's relatives / acquaintances who live in Canada seem to have a rather different experience. (Not to mention Canada's rather strong push towards MAID, which they recently expanded to include eligbility for people with mental illness.)

No, I haven't been to Florida in a while.

Perhaps he should avail himself of cheap plane tickets to Ohio? I have zero problems getting in at a specialist. I'm on my way to see one tomorrow, in fact.

Another one I couldn't get an appointment with for a few months, because I wanted to see a specific person - if I were willing to see someone else in that specialty, I'd be getting in a lot sooner. But that seems reasonable to me.

I have another specialist (dermatologist) I am seeing sooner than I would have liked, but my wife made the appointment and put me on the waitlist. Now I have to go next week!

Yes, I know quite a few people with such plans, including my parents, who are frequently going to see specialists, physical therapists, surgeons, and so forth.

Wait time for ortho was 3 months for my patient
A year for endocrinology
Over 1 1/2 for psychology back when we briefly needed it for my son
Cardiology was 2 months (cash pay)
VA has canceled appointments on my dad for primary more than once
A specialist I needed was 6 months

I’ve been told there is 1 endocrinologist covering 4 states that takes Medicaid.

Medicaid? That is the reason. It simply does not reimburse enough. My wife got an appointment with a specialist gastroenterologist in like 2 weeks. Medicare + Supplemental.

Medicaid is designed to fail by recient administration moves.

In Ohio, things work just fine, despite Medicaid being a very significant part of payments (over 50% of medical care in Ohio is paid for by the government, between VA, Medicaid, Medicare reimbursements, workers' comp, local/state/federal government employees, and military).

All of the major health systems take Medicaid; if they didn't, they wouldn't have very many patients, and the state requires them to do so if they want to participate in other programmes (including the ability to function as a nonprofit).

From what I can tell, Florida runs its Medicaid programme poorly, and like a far other "red states" and has refused to participate in Medicaid expansion.

I disagree. Medicaid's biggest problem is fraud., in my view, and serious steps are being taken to fix that.

Depends on which side of the stethoscope you are on. I would say that it is the many barriers to getting needed care.

Most of my patient's have private insurance and Medicaid or not, I've seen the same problems.

I've heard the same thing - it's just shocking how much difference there can be between states.

Despite medical care where I am being much better, and Florida not being so great, people keep moving to Florida in large numbers.
