For speech-to-text, I think we can say both:
Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Out of the abundance of the mouth the typos flourish.

Exactly. But it's definitely harder where there is conflict, and MN has generally been a place where conflict flourishes. I'm trying to find ways to grow in grace myself - I'm better at it in places like church, which feels more like a safe space of grace and wisdom.

Sometimes it helps to save a draft and come back later to reread it before posting. Sometimes it means not having the last word. Sometimes it means reading the Bible more than MN, and that will help develop the kind of character that makes people look forward to reading that person's posts instead of looking for the Foe button.
Good advice. I do actually read the Bible more than MN, but I'm still working on the rest.

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

But people also have different forms of conversation styles — what one person may experience as mean and antagonistic, another one will experience as direct and honest. Tone is hard to determine online and written posts alone are not a good measure over whether someone has grace and wisdom in their hearts.
