A wee little man can’t say, I’m sorry. A big man owns his mistakes and apologizes.
A wee little man trusts himself and his own discernment. A big man is humble enough to know that he needs the counsel and input of others.

Just some of them. The rest are still at home there (I would say "still based there" but I've already used a variation of that pun).

Re: Pope Francis passes on
i was glad to see this about C.Sarah.
This is based on his books/writings.
“5 quotes from Cardinal Robert Sarah, a favorite among conservatives to succeed Pope Francis”
https://www.foxnews.com/world/5-quotes- ... pe-francis
1. The West cut itself off from its 'Christian roots’
Sarah argued that the West has cut itself off from its Christian heritage in "The Day is Now Far Spent."
2. Gender ideology is ‘Luciferian’
Sarah argued that gender ideology is an affront to God's creation and cannot fundamentally change whether a person is male or female in "The Day is Now Far Spent."
"Gender ideology is a Luciferian refusal to receive a sexual nature from God."
3. Called mass migration a ‘new form of slavery’
In a March 2019 interview with the French publication "Valeurs Actuelles," Sarah reportedly criticized the role of the Catholic Church in supporting mass migration policies in Europe, noting the harm caused to the migrants themselves.
"All migrants who arrive in Europe are penniless, without work, without dignity," Sarah reportedly said. "This is what the Church wants? The Church cannot cooperate with this new form of slavery that has become mass migration."
4. Calls modern distractions ‘the devil's tool'
In "The Power of Silence: Against the Dictatorship of Noise," Sarah argues that modern distractions separate humankind from God.
"Distraction is the devil’s tool for cutting man off from God."
5. Calls Christians to refuse loyalty to popularity or politics
In "God or Nothing: A Conversation on Faith," Sarah asserts that one's loyalty must be to Christ – rather than to popularity or politics – and repeatedly argues against moral relativism in family and societal norms.
"The Church is not a human organization. She is not subject to the fashions of the day or the winds of doctrine. She must be faithful to Christ."
"God or nothing: there is no other choice. Those who choose God have everything. Those who choose nothing are lost."

i’m not well-informed.
i’ve never seen anything about C.Sarah that suggests he’s seeking to reach for anything beyond “conserving” the Spirit of Jesus Christ. that’s his appeal. Being pope or not, i have no sense that will change.

As someone who spent time at a monastery, I will only say that I respected him a great deal and am saddened that he has passed.

He seemed to have a shepherd's heart. From my outsider perspective it doesn't look as if he changed much, I suspect the thing he did to arouse opposition was to refuse the culture wars.Only an Anz wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 6:54 pm As someone who spent time at a monastery, I will only say that I respected him a great deal and am saddened that he has passed.

It is a bulleted summary of the issues where he changed Catholic policy and the issues where he held fast to existing Catholic policy.

^^That summary is by the secular and politically biased PBS, and AP.
i’d like (Catholic) JayP’s response, remembering how MaxPC regularly deferred to the Vatican and other Catholic sources, rather than outside opinions. Esp the highly left-biased political msm.
It’s common knowledge how worldly politics exists and acts out (everywhere) definitely including in the Vatican.
For example, much is written on The Lavendar Mafia in the Vatican. The Jesuits, in particular, often embrace (lib politics).
Pope Frances was a Jesuit.
i’m not sure how much typical “U.S. Catholicism” resembles others.
(i found) different (translated) recordings of Pope Francis helpful, rather than opinion pieces.
i didn’t follow closely, occasional tapes were available. He explaned his beliefs and decisions.
He wasn’t always “nice” or patient. He could lose his temper. He was human.
